If you plan on removing and replacing the spark plugs on your Volkswagen Eurovan (or Winnebago Rialta, as in my case), or if you own a VW with a VR6 engine, you can save yourself a lot of anguish and frustration (by fruitlessly attempting to purchase this - or any similar tool from local tool stores) and money, by making the purchase via Amazon.

Tool fits the spark plug boot like a charm. Handle is small enough to effectively fit-over, and pull (or install) the lengthy metallic spark plug boots on your VR6.

I purchased this tool for less then Twenty-Five bucks (using Amazon Prime), and received it within 2-days, Pronto Tonto.

Like another tool of similar design, you may need to cut one side of the handle (to remove & install the top-left and/or bottom left plugs, but that is an easy task with either a hack saw or a reciprocating saw.

Interesting (at least to me) and sad to note, the not-so-friendly folks at Harper Volkswagen (in Knoxville, TN) absolutely refused to sell me this tool, refused to order it, and refused to sell any parts for a 1997 Volkswagen / Winnebago Rialta (Eurovan chassis and power plant, so if you're depending on VW to gain assistance, good luck!

Harper VW of Knoxville further dis-incentivized me to purchase anything VW for the remainder of my lifetime. I've shared the experience with my family, and hopefully, they'll stay away from V-dubs in the future, as support is part of the matrix.

Nevertheless, this tool (from Amazon) is perfect for VW VR6 spark plug boot removal & replacements, and you can get no better customer service than Amazon.

Shipping was fast. Packaging was bullet-proof. Product was retail packaged, insulated by air-bubble packaging, and boxed in a sturdy Amazon smiley box.

Summary: Amazon good. VW service (in Knoxville, TN) very poor.

I highly recommend this product.

Works as intended for removing the spark plug wires with metal boots. Makes the task easy and reduces the likelihood of causing damage to the wires. The price here is also low compared to other retailers.

For reference I own an A3 Jetta with a stock ABA motor.

Have a Jetta Mk3, and it would have been a horrible pain to get the boots out without this tool. Not mentioned, but putting the boots back on is no fun either, but you can line this tool up with the notches and click the boots back into place.

So here is the deal, its a very good tool , seems well made, the only issue is you cant get to the #2 cylinder with it because of the angle and how the intake manifold is arranged. So bottom line, because i was replacing the wires anyway , i just yanked the wire by hand to get it off, or course you dont want to do that on plug wires you plan on reusing.
So there is another tool sold that has a curved shaft, i am guessing that that one will make its way around the intake manifold and work much better. I went with this one because it looked more solid in terms of build quality and it said it was compatible with my car.
Be careful when ordering there might be a better product (and dont waste your time going to VW for the tool they dont sell it to the public because they dont want you doing your own work and saving $$$$$. If you cant get the tool then your forced to go to them for repair. All in all i did a full tune up with $90 including the $20 for the tool, VW would have charge 2-300 minium for this job)

I'm not saying this tool is great, because it's kind of a universal fit, not very tight, but just enough to pull out any ingnition wire with a couple tries. I didn't use it to install the new plug wires, it would not hold them tightly, since it was a universal loose fit. Instead I used a long needle nose plier. However it was useful for the safe removal of my old wires. There are probably better tools out there, but I needed one quick, and prime shipped in a few days at a decent price.

I used this on my 97 Rialta and it barely does the job. REally hard getting at the bottom row of plugs. I had to keep squeezing the end together with pliars as it would seperate too far. There are probably better options out there, but with a little frustration, it will get the job done.

It's a decent tool and does the job of removing the VW sparkplugs. Be careful though, as the sides of the metal tube are sharp and can easily cut into the spark plug wires. If you're not careful, you can create a way bigger mess.

Worked as promised on my 2.0L VW Golf Mark 4 SOHC gasoline engine (AEG). Worried a little about its bulk on first sight, especially since my application is not shown on the package back. Worked great at pulling the wires, however. Note: clicking down wires with this tool is a more refined touch. Practice how you'll do it using one of the old wires you've just removed. All things considered, the tool is indispensible and I'd advise anybody doing an ignition tuneup on these engines to buy it. Would have given 5 stars had the tool come with instructions and more complete application data.
