Product Description

Katatu is derived from a very old board game originating from the Roman Empire and passed down through Europe into Egypt and eventually into Southern Africa. Originally called "Nine Mens Morris," the game took on several variations through time adding diagonal lines (the Spider web look) and the addition of three more game pieces. Katatu is a modernversion that is played and enjoyed in countries such as Namibia and is still used to teach children lessons of strategy and fair game play. Curtlin Toys & Games is proud to bring this game now to America and Europe New Game Board with 24 game pieces, game pouch and instructions. CONTENTS Magnetic Game Board 12 Grasshoppers Bug 12 Bumble Bee Instructions Bug Pouch PLAY TIME APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES Objective To get "3" in a straight row through the three phases of the game. The player to do this successfully wins the game! Good luck and enjoy playing!

Simple and easy to learn, but was has a complexity that makes it fun for all ages.

The pieces and the board are magnetic so the pieces stay put until you move them, which is a great feature.

First of all, this is a well made game and my daughter loved the game pieces right off the bat. Secondly, it was a perfect game to play with her at this age because she could understand the rules easily enough after a few times playing, but the strategy part of it is challenging so she won't get bored of it like most of the games designed for kids her age which are basically just based on rolling dice and pure luck. Thinking several steps ahead, like in chess, is a skill that she can develop over time, and when I played with her and explained why I was making the moves I was making, she really got excited about it. Kids want to be challenged and I think this is the perfect sort of game for someone her age - simple enough to understand the basic rules but challenging enough when it comes to strategy that she'll be excited every time she comes up with a new plan to win. I highly recommend it.

my son Stefan hasn't stopped playing this game since I bought it for him 3 weeks ago. He even brought it to his pre-school and played it with his friends. I bought two more for gifts and will be buying more for the upcoming holidays.

Favorite parts--the game scales nicely for any level of play depending on how complicated your strategy. Yet it is easy to learn and explain to even a 4 year old who can play pretty well only after a few weeks. my son loves the cute characters and the name. Having a 4 year old pronounce katatu is cuter than you can imagine.

We opened this game on our family vacation and it was a hit! My 8-year-old daugters played together, each played with me and each played with my mom. We all loved it. It requires strategy and thought but is also fun, which is a rare quality in children's games. The magnetized board and pieces prevented sliding. The game board and game pieces are visually appealing, too. Its a great game and I highly recommend it!

This game was given to my grandchildren as a gift. Their ages are seven and eight. They play this game over and over. Personally, I love to play the game with them and I'm their grandma!! I recommend this game for all kids, so much fun and makes you think about your next move.

The children I nanny for and I were in Walgreens today and had the chance to meet the person that made this game! He was nice enough to give the kids the game! The kids have been playing it all day and just love it!

We received Katatu as a gift for my six year old son. He started playing it immediately and has been enchanted by it ever since. This game is like an advanced version of tic-tac-toe, and has easier and harder options.

When my younger son and the dog conspired to destroy a couple of the pieces, the company sent out replacements quickly, and my six-year-old wanted to play again as soon as they arrived.

The pieces and the board are magnetic so the pieces stay put until you move them, which is a great feature.

Our entire family has had fun with this game since we got it 2 months ago (ages 3 to 44). While our youngest is still learning the gist of the game, she loves to move the bugs on the magnetic board. Great educational opportunities along with great construction makes this a wonderful game that travels well.
