5.0 out of 5 stars Better than what I expected!
I first saw CTEK battery chargers featured on Dream Car Garage, and they spoke highly of it. Superior electronics, technology, etc, etc. Being an avid car and boat enthusiast, I also saw ads in some publications and decided to try it out. Right of the box I thought "WOW" is this thing small (about 12"x4"x2"), and less than 3 pounds. I researched CTEK through the homepage...

2.0 out of 5 stars Product assistance does not exist.
Product does not appear to be functioning as advertised. Attempts to contact supplier via e-mail and phone did not address problems.
CTEK should be added to the World Wide "No Buy List".

I researched CTEK through the homepage and saw that it is approved for Optima batteries which I have for my classic cars and my boat. I used this charger on my trolling motor batteries and took readings before and after use. I fully charged my batteries with my old charger and the batteries read 12.4 and 12.9 volts. I plugged the CTEK charger in and put it in RECON mode and took readings the next morning. The batteries read 14.4 volts and 14.6 volts. The CTEK charger was able to pump in some extra power! I took my boat out, trolled all day, I barely tapped into the 2nd battery. I took my boat out a couple more times with the same results. UNBELIEVABLE! Before I used to pray I was getting back to the launch ramp, and now I'm barely using my second battery! It's made me a believer. Even though it's waterproof, I did't mount it because only single bank. Maybe they will come out with a multi-bank charger. If they do, I will definitely buy that charger too. I am very impressed with this charger. Only downside, the manual doesn't explain charger functions all that well, but it's really not hard to figure out. 5 Stars from me!

I've always owned the typical 15lb car charger. This is quite a step up in technology - smaller and lighter than a quart of milk, and comes with a nice enough carrying pouch for the charger and any accessories you might add. I also bought the cigarette lighter attachment, so I don't even have to open the car's hood/trunk and remove the battery terminal cover to charge the car. This is a good choice to keep an infrequently-driven weekend car (or boat) topped off. I feel much more comfortable keeping one of these connected for battery maintenance than the old-style dumber chargers.

It's not as suitable as one of those old-style boxes for blasting a quick 50amp charge into a completely dead battery to get the car started - the charge rate is an approximately steady 7 amps until the battery is charged. The old style chargers may begin at 10, 20, or even 50 amps, then taper off rapidly below that as the battery begins to take a charge.

One thing about most lead-acid car batteries - you really don't want to let them get completely dead, or they permanently lose some of their ability to take and deliver a charge.

I have a little battery charger(50 amp) and a big standup charger(200 amp), and this little fellow has pretty much made them obsolete, at least in my garage. I really love the multiple step charging cycles of this smart charger. I have reconditioned several batteries and they have all came back great.

5.0 out of 5 stars CTEK Charger, December 27, 2010

This charger remains in my old 85 T-bird to keep the battery topped off. This car is not driven very frequently so the battery goes dead. I have another charger, but it is old technology and can not remain connected for long periods of time. The CTEK stays connected always. In fact, I have it tied down with cable ties in the engine compartment.

The charger maintains the battery at peak level, and will not overcharge the battery. The reverse polarity protection also works quite well. I hooked it up at night and misread my positive and negative terminals. No harm to my battery or the charger after having it connected overnight. Fixed the hookup and charged up the battery inside of a day.

The cables provided allow you to use either alligator clamps or bolt on the eyelets onto the battery post clamps as I have mine. This works great! I highly recommend this charger.

5.0 out of 5 stars The shining star of the CTEK system, April 14, 2010

This review is from: CTEK Multi US 7002 12V Battery Charger (Automotive)
CTEK has hands down engineered the finest battery maintenance system. I've used their smaller charger, but the 7002 is the top of the line with extra features.

My first reason for switching to ctek was that I installed a GPS radar detector which I wanted to leave running 24/7 so that the microwave components stay warm at night and so that the GPS gets the updates during the night about the satellite constellation. This whay when I leave the spectrum analyzer and frequency counter are warmed up and ready to make accurate measurements.

Doing this required a source of power to run everything all night and CTEK delivered in the 7002 - it has an extra button besides recharging customized for my optima yellow top battery called "supply" which supplies 6A of power at 13.6 VDC for times when you are working late and have the doors open and dome light on. This prevents DISCHARGE of your battery while working. I also installed the CTEK dash mounted input for the charger to make it easy to plug it in CTEK 56-380 Comfort Indicator Panel CTEK was so thoughtful in their work they even provided a red-yellow-green binking LED on the panel to indicate your battery's health.

The 7002 also has a recondition mode that takes full advantage of ctek's pulse charging system to desulphate lead-calcium batteries, especially those like the Optima batteries.

This is top of the line stuff - I highly recommend it for build quality (you can hear the relays inside clicking through the charge steps) and for features (the pulse battery conditioning system which goes far and beyond other brands chargers)

It's also the recommended storage charger for porsche automobiles, not that that matters.

The CTEK 7002 is perfect, just what I had been looking for. I have a 2004 Mustang GT and drive under 5,000 miles a year; I've have always been concerned that my battery might not be getting the proper 'charge' that it requires from the low amount of weekly driving. Last year I installed a new Optima Red Top Battery and now I feel the CTEK 7002 will properly maintain the battery charge. I've been using it a month now, just connect it and forget about it - perfect!CTEK Multi US 7002 12V Battery Charger

This is the best charger I ever owned. It can even be used as a voltage regulated power supply. It will fully charge a batter with out over charging and charge it faster than most much larger chargers. I love it. It is small enough to carry with me in the motor home just in case it is needed. It can be used to maintain batteries all season long with out damage to the battery. Cant say enough good about it.

Not much to write. It charges fine and can be left on the battery as a maintainer. It is very light and totally silent. Kind of expensive though. As long as it doesn't burn up like another manufacturer's then it will be worth the money. It would be nice if it had a display for charge levels etc. Haven't used the desulphation mode yet but it is worth it for that as well.

This was my 3rd battery charger i bought this week I had 2 optima Batteries that I didn't want to spend $600 replacing. So I bought two other battery chargers that said they "recondition batterys" and neither one of them could do it. I was about ti give up when I saw a video on youtube using this one. First time I hooked it up it brougt the batteries back to life. This little thing is AWESOME!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great unit!, June 6, 2011

This review is from: CTEK Multi US 7002 12V Battery Charger (Automotive)
I purchased this charger for the purpose of charging an Optima blue top series dual purpose AGM battery. The unit is fantastic! I ended up using it to charge a whole slew of other batteries as well, including a standard lead acid deep cycle battery and a smaller battery for a jet ski.

As promised the unit when first turned on does an "analysis" of your battery to determine exactly what is needed. If needed it will go into a reconditioning phase before charging begins. From there everything is automatically controlled supplying just the right amount of current and charge to the battery to charge, maintain, and condition the battery. I have been the victim in the past with other chargers that apply too much charge and "fry" or litterally cook a battery to the point where it is rendered useless. This unit prevents any of that.

Bottom line...love it. Highly recommend it for todays technically advanced batteries. And it's super lightweight and compact.
