About the Actor

Chris Carmichael is the founder and chairman of Carmichael Training Systems, Inc. and is the personal coach to cancer survivor and five-time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong.

Carmichael has been honored as the USOC’s Coach of the Year and served as the cycling coach during the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. Athletes under his direction have won 33 Olympic, World Championships and Pan American Games medals. A member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Cycling Team, Carmichael was part of the first American team to ride in the Tour de France in 1986.

Craig Griffin A native of New Zealand, Craig Griffin began cycling at the age of 11, his interest in the sport piqued by his father and grandfather who were both road racers, with his father also being the National coach for New Zealand in 1983. He was a New Zealand National Team member from 1979-88 and earned five National Championship titles, including the 1985 national road title, and was a member of junior and senior World Championship teams.

Craig served as the USAC National Endurance Track Coach for eleven years and worked as a member of the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympic coaching staff. He guided Erin Hartwell to the first US Olympic medal in the kilometer time trial, coached the US team pursuit team to its first ever medal in international competition, and coached Mike McCarthy to the first World Individual Pursuit Championship won by a US rider. Athletes working with Griffin have won 48 Olympic, World, Pan Am and World Cup medals and over 40 Elite national titles. Craig was honored as the 1998 US Olympic Committee Coach of the Year for cycling.

Craig is one of eight Union Cycliste International (UCI) Olympic Solidarity Coaches and a member of the USA Cycling Coaching Committee. In 2001 USA Triathlon enlisted his help as the cycling consultant to their resident athlete program at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs
