this game sucks. it would be much better if you could pick your
rifle instead of getting whatever the game gives you. and your spotter is stupid so he dies al the time . i wish i hadn't bought it

1.0 out of 5 stars Low Budget, May 4, 2003

This ia a low budget first person shooter. The game forces you to travel in one direction and if you try and explore outside the mission area the game kills you. You have a spotter who travels with you and if your spotter dies, you die. The game is pretty simple and ends quite suddenly and has very little replay value. I guess this game is ok if you're looking for a cheap time killer, but it ain't good for much else.

2.0 out of 5 stars This game never should have been released!, April 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: CTU: Marine Sharpshooter (CD-ROM)
This game never should have been released in the incomplete state it's in. CTU Marine Sharpshooter is highly unstable and full of glitches.

The game is based on sniping but it gets very repetitive and monotonous. In some parts you are sniping so fast that it seems to take away from the stealth aspect. You are only given a hand gun, a sniper rifle, and a knife, that's it. Most of the terrorists are so close that you could use your hand gun in most parts of the game. When you run out of ammo for the hand gun you are forced to shoot them with the sniper rifle at close range. The objectives are very short and text-only. You basically end up just running to the end of each mission killing bad guys as you go. Also, your spotter that comes with you on each mission basically has to be baby-sitted by you. He will stand in your way in several spots or he will rush in and get himself killed. You just have to set him on follow and protect him like a hostage. The gameplay is also very linear. If you get outside the game path, a message comes on the screen that you are leaving the mission area and you automatically die! The levels are also very short. They have just taken large levels and broken them down into smaller levels. So, you end up playing the same area for quite a while, just broken into different levels.

Graphics is one of the biggest problems. There is bad, and I mean bad clipping problems. The highly pixilated trees are a joke. There were also many times where the enemies would suddenly float in mid air on their back while still shooting at me. My spotter would sometimes turn upside down on his head in mid-air and run floating in air to meet me. The sound is not without problems. During the few cutscenes and when your spotter is talking to you, you can barely hear what anyone is saying. Don't waste your money on this one. I wish I hadn't.
