5.0 out of 5 stars concise and readable review/ update book, May 28, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CURRENT Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2009 (LANGE CURRENT Series) (Paperback)
I had a prior edition of this book and was very satisfied with it. As a general review it is fast and detailed enough. I was taking the USMLE tests back then. Now I am doing my residency training, and I am in Psychiatry; but I still need an updated source to review about other problems that my patients may have. It is not as detailed and slow to read as other texts (Farreras-Rozman, Harrison) and still does the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars An affordable and compact alternative, December 8, 2008
This review is from: CURRENT Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2009 (LANGE CURRENT Series) (Paperback)
Although not fancy by any means, the Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment (CMDT) is a fantastic portable referance for primary care providers. It is easy to use and read with various invaluable tables and charts. For the price, the CMDT is a great first choice. The CMDT is considered the Physician Assistants' and Nurse Practitioners' "bible" for passing certification exams.

1.0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate, November 30, 2009

This review is from: CURRENT Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2009 (LANGE CURRENT Series) (Paperback)
On the topic of ME (CFS) almost every statement was false or misleading. For example, evidence for the only two general treatments recommended, CBT and GET, is inconsistent at best and these interventions certainly have greatly increased morbidity in many cases. Clinicians are told to tell patients that most patients recover. Yet, recovery rates in studies are generally 4-8%. A high incidence of child abuse is cited, but the study relied upon (Heim) has been widely discredited (see journal articles by Prof. Leonard Jason).
