Product Description

Featuring the patented Support Web, the Performx Tight keeps everything in correct alignment for optimum balance, efficiency and power.

Made by CW-X, these men's running tights provide optimum balance as well as support for the iliotibial band, hip flexors, and quadriceps. They also help stabilize the knees, calves, and Achilles tendons. CW-X's patented Kinesio Support Web acts as a suspension system for the quadriceps, increasing power at the push phase of the running motion. The gentle, targeted compression of the Kinesio Support Web increases circulation, minimizing lactic acid buildup and reducing muscle soreness, making these ideal recovery-wear.

The tights are anatomically engineered for each gender, providing comfort, ease of movement, and a better fit. They offer versatile performance, both as outerwear and as a base layer. A reflective logo provide extra visibility for nighttime activities. The flat-seam construction eliminates abrasions, increases comfort, and enhances fit. Other features include a key pocket and a double-reinforced waistband with a flat-draw cord.

Fabrics
The 80 percent Coolmax, 20 percent Lycra four-way stretch fabric pulls moisture away from the body to the outside of the tights and provides a UV protection rating of UPF 40+.

About Kinesio Support Web Technology
The patented CW-X Kinesio Support Web technology mimics Kinesio taping techniques that trainers apply to injured muscles. When this technology is applied to muscles and joints, it creates an exoskeletal support system that improves biomechanics during motion. The Kinesio Support Web provides targeted support to key areas, decreasing muscle oscillation and focusing power so your muscles work more efficiently. Variable compression along the web facilitates circulation, minimizing lactic acid build-up and muscle soreness, so you can be active longer and recover faster.

About Lycra and Coolmax
The genius at the heart of CW-X is an obedience to the structure of the body, made possible by two extraordinary fibers: Lycra and Coolmax. Coolmax moves moisture instantaneously from the body out to the fabric's outer surface, where it evaporates at twice the speed of cotton. So with CW-X Conditioning Wear, you remain cool at even the highest temperatures. When less energy goes toward cooling the body, more energy is left to help you excel. Lycra, on the other hand, possesses the unique ability to stretch yet retain its shape.

About CW-X Gear Technology
For 40 years, scientists at Wacoal Human Science Research Center in Kyoto, Japan, have studied kinesiology, the science of human movement. They have tested over 35,000 people and analyzed injuries relative to warm-up and cool-down periods. They have come to understand the mechanics of joints and muscles in minute detail. This exhaustive study of body movement has culminated in over 50 patents worldwide.

Below are some further studies demonstrating the performance-enhancing qualities of CW-X Conditioning Wear.

Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of electrical pulse activity in muscles
Muscles firing into motion were measured electromyographically for subjects wearing CW-X gear, subjects wearing competitor products, and subjects with bare legs. Electrical pulse activity decreased in unsupported and partly supported legs during exercise, indicative of fatigue. Legs supported by CW-X showed a negligible decrease in electrical pulse activity.

Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of stability, impact, and motion
In this study, high-speed video analysis was used to compare stability, impact, and motion in CW-X products and regular compression gear. CW-X Support Web tights were 10 percent more stable and balanced and absorbed 12 percent more shock to the knee than regular compression tights. CW-X Support Web tops allowed 9 percent greater range of motion for the arm than regular compression tops.

University of Montpelier, France: Study of VO2 oxygen uptake levels
This study measured VO2 oxygen uptake levels over the course of 15 minutes of running in CW-X gear, regular compression tights, and running shorts. CW-X Support Web tights showed 26 percent less oxygen use than regular compression tights and 36 percent less oxygen use than traditional running shorts, indicating lower energy expenditure.

I have used these all the way from -10F to 54F and they worked fantastic every time. Probably wore them 50 times so far since last year and they still retain all form and have not stretched out despite the washings and wear. Plus, I also wore them all March and April when I got back on the road with my road bike. Again, they performed perfectly. Love these so much I actually own 3 pairs because I wear them so much during Fall/Winter/Spring.

I am a dedicated runner who lives in the upper Midwest, and good insulated compression tights are an essential for fall and winter running. I have tried several brands and styles, but these CW-X Insulator Performx Tights are at the top of the drawer for a reason: it's because I keep coming back to them. They provide a comfortable degree of compression and excellent insulation for those colder days that just make you want to stay indoors. For me the biggest selling point is the support web around the kneecap. I have been plagued with a problem in one of my knees for years, and the construction and stitching of these tights really does support my knees better than competing products. The packaging comes with directions for putting these on, and I will say that the key is bringing both legs up to knee level to align the kneecap in the middle of the support web and then pulling them the rest of the way up. There is a drawstring, but the waistband and the elasticity of the fabric makes it redundant in my experience.

These are simply outstanding running tights that are ideal for colder climates and runners with knee or IT band issues. They are pricey, but this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for."

I am a 45+ year old male who runs twice a week for 4 - 6 miles. I have had issues with my IT band and knees, which I believe is fairly normal. I have spent quite a bit on getting the right shoes and custom insoles, which has helped quite a bit.

However, these compression pants have made a truly noticeable difference. I can run my normal distance and my legs don't hurt. The IT band pain is gone. I enjoy my running much more.

It just seems like the pants allow your muscles to focus on the running and less on stabilization, so they don't have to work as hard or something. I got a pair for my son-in-law whose knees are bad from being in the military, and he also has experienced significant reduction in soreness and pain when running.

I highly recommend this brand and version for the IT band support. Some of the other versions focus more on the knees.

This is the second pair of comppression tights that i have purchased. I really like these for the colder days as they provide much more protection against cold wind than my other tights. This helps a lot when i cant feel my legs on cold Atlanta mornings (i know...probably think I am a wuss if you are in the North). I also like the feature of the tights that wrap around your kness. Believe it or not, this has provided my knees with additional support....similar to the flexible tape, if you have tried that....but not to that degree. I would highly recommend. Make sure to look at wash and care instructions. It is very easy to decrease the level of compression by washing them incorrectly.

I've been wearing CW-X tights during winter workouts and shoveling snow for years, but this pair is my first "Insulator" tight. Like my others these give great joint support and are very comfortable to wear. I was tempted to knock them down to four stars because of two reasons:
    (1) they're not as much warmer as I would have expected given the insulator name, and
    (2) they don't have a pocket larger enough to carry and iPod or cell phone (a problem with all CW-X tights)..

So I'm still going to have to wear nylon track pants over them on really cold days, and use an armband to hold my iPhone. That said, I'm still giving them five stars because they're a great value and so much better for my worn-out knees and hips than other brands. I'm planning on buying a pair of the more expensive insulator stabilyx next because the regular stabilyx tights provide the best joint support of any product I've tried.

Get this if you want to keep warm while in the snow! Did not bother me when using the ski boots, would buy another if needed!

I use these primarily for cold weather bicycle commutes, and have had them out in weather below freezing and on reasonably cold days in rain. I couldn't be more pleased with how they've performed in terms of weather. Also, after laundering them several times, they seem to be holding up better than other tights I've owned.

So why only four stars? My primary gripe is that the grippy bits that are supposed to hold them down to your ankle don't work quite as well as I'd like. They have a tendency to creep up. This hasn't been a problem running or walking as the range of motion is restricted enough to prevent it, but if you're using these for cycling, it's something to keep in mind.

Overall these are very good running tights providing good support and a true-to-size fit. Being an older runner I appreciated the extra support and find myself wearing them for other exercise programs. Living in California it never gets very cold in winter (40-50 degrees in the evening when I run) but I found these tights to be only adequate in keeping my legs warm, less than I would have expected. It's frequently breezy or downright windy during winter here and I have found that I needed to wear my old ripstop nylon pants (just a thin, but windproof shell, not insulated) over these tights to keep adequately warm in those conditions.
