Product Description

Editorial Review

These enduring dollies from the early ‘80s are still around—only this time around you won’t have to fight a mob of clawing Moms to get a hold of one. Cabbage Patch Kid baby dolls are now mass-produced so nostalgic mothers can pick up the one that most resembles their daughter’s features and ethnicity with relative ease. This Asian baby girl has brown eyes and a mass of dark brown hair pulled up into two adorable topknots. She comes dressed in a removable romper, jacket, diaper, and bib and even has that sweet powdery baby smell. Accessories include a bottle, a jar of baby food, a plate, a spoon, and, of course, her birth certificate and adoption papers—the very thing that still makes these dolls so unique. The baby has a molded face but a soft plush body that makes her comfortable to squeeze or sleep with. --Cristina Vaamonde

I adopted a beautiful daughter from China and she is 5 yrs old. She wanted a chinese cabbage patch doll. What I got did not have straight black hair but more of an african american doll.
There was not any asian look to this doll at all. So I'm not happy at all with this doll.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a doll!, April 24, 2006

In regards to the review above, it's a friggin doll. It's a Cabbage Patch Kid. They look like cartoon kids anyways. If you wanted a realistic Asian-looking doll, there are plenty of them on the market. I sure hope that nobody buys a Cabbage Patch Kid doll hoping that it'll either 1) look like their kid, 2) look realistic or 3) represent necessarily what people of __________ race should look like.

If the makers of Cabbage Patch Kids had made the kid with entirely slanty eyes, I'm sure that people would have felt it was racist. They made it as similarly as they could to the others and added dark straight hair and a bit of an almond shape to the end of the eyes, unlike the non-Asian dolls. Little kids love dolls typically regardless of what they look like. Getting an adopted Asian child an Asian doll isn't going to get her "in touch" with her Asian culture. I hope you have other plans than that.

As for the comment about Amazon.com's service, I have had no problem ordering from them. I typically get my orders in the mail earlier than expected. Maybe there were complications related to your order for various reasons.

1.0 out of 5 stars What you see is not what you will get....., December 2, 2006

I was very happy to discover that I could purchase an Asian Cabbage Patch Girl doll...it was for a little Korean girl....the doll pictured on the website looked like the little girl that it was purchased for (the hair). Well, I was excited to find one and I wanted to make sure that I would receive it in time to wrap it and mail it to Texas in time for Christmas. I ordered in on the 27th and received it on Dec. 1st (I paid for faster shipping). When I opened the box it was an Asian doll but not the one with the ponytails...this doll had short hair. I called Amazon immediately and although they expressed being sorry they said that they could not guarantee that it wouldn't happen again. I have used Amazon before with no problems but I am extremely unhappy with the bait and switch. I should have read the other reviews. I will never let that happen again. BEWARE...do not order things of this nature from this website. You will be disappointed.
