This game is ridiculous. Every animal in the game is trying to attack you and eat you. From Lions, bears, snakes, hyenas, piranas, and yes, even elk and moose will try to kill you. I shot at both an elk and a moose from 150 yards and they both tried to come gore me with their racks. My charachter was able to wrestle the 1000 lb moose with it's rack until it ran away.
The storyline is so unprobable it makes it worse. The main charachter is a loser hick, who talks like he has a pole up his rear. The charachter acting is horrible. And not only are all the animals always trying to kill him, no matter where he is going, nature is trying to kill him too. From avalanches to floods, he is always in the worst place at the right time. He happens to be hunting lions, when the whole hunting colony is attacked by verocious lions jumping in over tall fence to come eat everyone. And planes crash when he is out hunting and he has to go save victims who are being eaten by jaguars. The game storyline would have been better if they claimed aliens had taken over all the animals and were after the loser hick hunter who had a magical power or something. And to finish it off, the menus in the game look like coded graphics from the original nintendo in the 80's. They definitely did not spend any $ for some good programmers to complete the menus. And they probably got the voice acting from bums off the street for $5. Don't waste your money. To think that Cabellas, a hunting company put this gross attempt together or even endorsed it is a shame to their name.

The game is really corny. There is really no free roam. There really is no hunting the animal. The animal hunts you. I had an elk attack me because I shot at it from over a 100 yards away. Not realistic at all. This game is not worth the money.

This is a really cool game! You play a big game hunter who's friend is killed by a bear and have to find the perfect throphy animal.
But you are NOT going to hunt harmless animals. Oh no! You have to hunt some of the MOST feirce and dangerous animals on the planet! Which include lions, wolves, elephants, grizzly bears, tigers, hyenas, rhinos, leopards, jaguars and much more. You also hunt in 9 different locations including the African savannah, the Russian artic and the South American rainforest. You have a wide array of weapons to use to stop the animals but be careful you have to be fast and accurate in shooting them. Beacuse if you fail to kill them you'll have to fight him hand to paw. But you also have to pay attention because it's very possible that the animals are going to have buddies to help them out. There is some pretty violent scenes and some swearing so little kids shouldn't play this game. We humans like to think we're on top of the food chain but after you play this game you might think twice about that.

I have beaten all the Cabela games on Xbox 360 (Alaskan Adventures, African Safari, Trophy Bucks and Big Game Hunter). I think this one is my favorite because it has 2 different game modes. It has the freestyle hunt and the arcade style hunt. Both modes are fun. The graphics are great and so is the story mode.

Unrealistic,

Although it would be pretty cool to go hunting in Africa and such, this game is way unrealistic. Saying that, it makes it kind of corny too. It seems like they tried too hard to make it action-packed. The game starts off too fast, with too much action off the bat to make it very unrealistic. It seems like everywhere you walk something big and dangerous jumps out and attacks you, putting you in this unrealistic situation in which they try to make it seem all dramatic, where you have to "rappidly tap" the button that is commanded to kill the animal and escape unharmed. Overall, not the worst game. It's still kind of fun to play a hunting game, but the most I would pay for this is probably $20.

This is by far the worst hunting game I have ever seen. There is no realism in this game whatsoever. The worst thing about the game is they basically poured it into a cheesy storyline just like Dangerous Hunts 2 except cheesier.
When I was finished with this game I pawned it for 5 bucks and trust me its not even worth that much. Why can't they make a game like the original Dangerous Hunts with charter hunt and why can't they cut all the survival crap and the "revenge against a grizzly bear for killing my old partner" story and just make plain hunting missions like the original.

Ugh I really wanted to like this game; I really did! Unless I'm ever in a desperate situation, I don't think I'll ever go hunting in real life, which is why I thought this game would simulate the hunting and this has turned into one of the most frustrating games ever...and I say this after constantly playing video games since 1992.
While Career Mode wasn't bad and had it's moments, the Action Zone just takes the cake when it comes to being anti-realistic. With power-ups aside, this is anything but realistic. Apparently I should have paid more attention in biology classes, because I had no idea that most large felines such as cougars and leopards are invulnerable to fire, especially from a point blank shots from a double-barrel shotgun shots straight to the head and that if you shoot them with a semi-automatic from far away through a scope, they simply shake it off and become good as new, ready to pounce on you. If you are playing this thinking this strictly for achievements and think to yourself that this is just an easy 1000, be strongly aware and get ready to be frustrated as this experience will frustrate you and might make you hate wildlife, hunting and video games all together!

Young kids wanting expensive toys. The price of these games is way over what they are worth. I guess it kept the Kids out of my hair for a few hours. Seems they like the action and realism of the game. Wal-Mart is approximately the same price, but no sales tax from Amazon.

Dangerous Hunts...Not Much Hunting,
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Cabela's Dangerous Hunts '09 (Video Game)
The graphics to this game are really great but it lacks in the action department. If you are looking for something with continuous shooting and such, this game is not for you. I purchased this for my boyfriend who is a devoted fan of games such as Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Halo, and I think it was a little boring for him. For a hunter though, who knows that patience is one of the most important aspects of the hunt, this game would be a great gift. I would not say that it contains in your face type action, but the hunts really are cool.
