For those of you who had the old gun where the trigger was in the front, this gun is 100% better. The trigger is now in the back, and the front has a pump reload. Also, all of the controls are customizable (unlike last time). the gun is adjustable so even large people are able to keep the stock of the gun in their shoulder while looking through the scope, giving a very real feeling to the game.

The red scope is cool, and i was very excited before i tried it. It is actually sorta hard to see anything through it. To use it, you hit a button (A is the default) and it makes the screen only viewable through the red lens. However, it is very hard to see anything, making the game a little frustrating.

Also, the game in general is very hard. I kept dieing over and over and have put hours into the game and have still not beat level 1 of 12. The game-play is also just about surviving rather than hitting animals for the gold medal like the last time. You will constantly be jumped by mountain lions and wolves. The bear takes like 30 shots before it goes down. Very unrealistic in that regard.

The arcade mode is amazing though! It is very fun, and lasts only about 3 minutes. Great for when company is over and you can pass it back and forth trying to beat each others score. That part of it alone, makes the whole game worthwhile. However there is like 30 arcade modes, and you have to beat the 12 levels to unlock them all. This is proving to be very hard to do.

Still worth buying, and i do recommend the gun (the lens is not used in arcade mode). The quick pump reload is very fun and makes it much more like and actual arcade game then the older versions. I gave it 4 stars because the campaigns are a little frustrating, but if i could break it out: the arcade 5 stars, the gun 4, and the campaign 3. Buy it!

If you have an xbox or ps3, i would get that version. The gfx are much better, and the gun works the same as for wii.

This is a cool game. Not really all that hard, seemed impossible at first but got easier with practice. The new gun is great, don't really like the scope thing but it is needed for the story mode.

It's easy enough for adults to play. Took it to hunting camp and we all had a blast playing the galleries. Stoy mode is single player so I waited on that, it's challenging, at least for me.

I have the 09 version and like this much better.

Firstly, I am not an avid hunting-game fan. This is the first hunting-ish game I've owned... i say hunting-ish because it is nothing like hunting at all (which is a good thing IMHO). Real hunting involves hours of waiting in the woods, staring at your feet, and attempting to fain the occasional animal noise to hopefully hear something that may be an animal off in the distance. Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011's campaign mode is fast paced with a passable storyline and very engaging combat sequences... yes the animals fight back and you will be eaten, often. It is more of a FPS than hunting game.

Pros:
Challenging/engaging campaign (I played through it, up to the final boss over one weekend with a friend, and it didn't get boring or monotonous)
Lots of unlockables (in the form of shooting galleries)
Shooting galleries galore, and they're very fun. Often times there are more animals than you can squeeze a trigger at. I'd estimate it should take at minimum 50 hours to post decent scores in all the shooting galleries.
Replayability is very, very high... as the galleries are plentiful and engaging.
Gun / wii-mote & nun chuck holster is ingenious. Very well put together and thought out.
Galleries can be played in co-op OR 4 people taking turns.
Galleries are great if you just have a few minutes here and there... no long time investment is necessary to walk away with an entertaining experience.

Cons:
Scope on plastic gun is basically useless, as are the on-gun sights (on-screen sights track your wii-mote movement). "Hunter sense" can easily be viewed without the red lens scope.
Targeting is laggy with the wii-mote and often imprecise.

This game is great for the whole family. From my 3 year old Grandson to his 64 year old Grandfather, we all really enjoy it! The gun is great but we are not using the scope.

We've had this game about a week now and are working on killing the final boss (I haven't had a break from work to do it) and are almost through with the gold medals in the Classic version of the game. Its a really fun game. The story is a little hard if you're not familiar with first person shooter style games, but if you are, its fun. Yes, the dark scenes are a little hard to see and it can be frustrating to learn the controls but compared to other games that are a similar style, this one is much more playable. If you are familiar with first person shooters, you may find the story mode too easy on the normal mode. I haven't played "hard" yet, but its required to unlock some of the galleries so I'll probably get to it at a later date.

Unlike other "animals attack you" games that I've played, this one has no warning for the most part. Once you figure out the triggers, then you can learn to orient yourself with little problem. Again, spend the first level or so figuring out the controls and its worth it.

The Top Shot Elite gun is awesome and fun to put together. Its great for the Galleries, but I found for playing long hours on it, I preferred to simply use the Wiimote and Nunchucks on the Top Shot Elite setting. The story can require long periods of sorting and shooting and holding the gun up isn't practical unless you have bionic arms. I used this in the Gallery and had good success, but the To Shot Elite is just as fun in the Gallery mode (so basically I have no real preference in the Gallery mode). The Hunter Sense is a bit botchy and I just left the scope next to me in case I needed to sort something out on the story mode. I don't use the adjustible stock but my husband with much longer arms does.
