5.0 out of 5 stars If you like shooting game, this one is for you November 28, 2012

The game has three mode. I can't play the story line mode for too long in front of big TV, get dizzy and it reminds me the old Doom days. For people like game such as Doom or CS, this mode is not bad.
I like the third mode better, you don't have to control your movement, the camera moves automatically and all you have to do is identify the target and pull the trigger. Sounds easy huh, you should try it and find out.

My only complaint is the graphic is not that great, but I still give this game 5 star because it's so much fun to play.
I see this game's standard edition sells game only, I recommend to buy the "with Gun" edition, without the gun, it will be difficult to play the game and way less fun.

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Well I maybe more critical than most reviewers here. I am a software developer and thus I am inclined to notice bad design. I've also played video games 22/26 years of my life and I am a wannabe hunter.

It feels like the studio that made this game did it without the gun in hand (it actually plays better without the gun). There's no calibration options in game, so don't expect to rely on the gun's sights; instead you will aim the gun towards the TV and watch the cross hairs on the TV. Also adding to this feeling of a game not designed for its gun is that selecting options is done with the "A" button instead of the "Z" button i.e. "Z" is the trigger... makes sense, right? A game based on a gun you would expect to use a trigger to select options, but that isn't so.

There's also a lack of variety. You have three play modes which are all fun however the targets are all the same animals. I won't go into detail on them, though it would have been nice to shoot at non-animals. Shooting things that blow-up or a puzzle mini game would be nice (reflex mode is a good start to a puzzle mode). I haven't beat the game, but I hoping that given this is "Dangerous hunts" that some mythical animals like big foot will show-up (I really doubt it).

Pros:
Varied AI for each animal type
Fun yet unoriginal game modes
The lack of realism is refreshing. It's awesome mowing down herds at a time.

Cons:
Unrefined feeling
Nonsensical button mapping
Lack of variety
No gun calibration
Limited gun options (so far I've seen five guns)
A clunky UI

Overall this is a fun yet average game. It isn't AAA, but it has "Cabela's" in the title so what do you expect? I was surprised at how entertaining it is, but it ain't Time Crisis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stupid Stupid Fun February 26, 2013
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:With Gun
Once I forgot everything I know about hunting (ie. careful shooting, making sure you have a backdrop behind your shot, killing an animal humanely, etc...) this game became very fun very fast. Until that point, I was not doing very well with this game.

So, if an animal moves, looks like it's going to move, or just happens to be there: kill it. They're coming right at you and they want you and everything you hold dear in this world dead, just like wild animals in real life!

This game is a shooting gallery, with an overly dramatic, cheesy-dialogued, so-bad-it's-good storyline. Ten years after the tragic death of their father at the claws of an injured grizzly bear, will the two brothers reconcile their differences and learn to be a family again, and kill lots and lots of animals as well? No spoilers in this review: you'll have to play to find out.

There's also a "man-eater" mode, where you shoot waves of increasingly dangerous animals, and there's one more mode where the landscape moves around you and you just shoot at EVERYTHING that moves. Deer, antelope, fox, wolves, rabbits, flocks of birds, etc... If you don't kill enough of them, you can't move onto the next part of the level, and you have to go back and shoot better the next time.

The "Fearmaster" gun controller works well with both my big screen and 32" televisions. The gun controller is really clever, well built, and fun to use. Your wii controller and nunchuk will fit into it perfectly. I have no problems with aiming at and hitting any of the targets.

Please note that there is no heartbeat monitor on the Wii version of this game. Apparently some people care about that, but I am not one of them.

Bottom line: This is a really fun game with a lot of replay and group play value.

1.0 out of 5 stars The "Fearmaster" is garbage / The game is fun January 30, 2014
By BigWug
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:With Gun
The "Fearmaster" is garbage , garbage that with one ounce of forethought could have been amazing. This gun is packed with neat features that the design just makes useless. Every other Rifle/Shotgun that Cabelas has included in their packages has been way better. The gun is too small for even my 10 year niece to use, and she is a short skinny kid.

The "stock" on the gun is unusable, its a fixed deal that is literally 6 inches long, which kills the fun of the sniper missions, seriously how can you snipe anything with a rifle you have to hold like a sawed off shotgun? Putting the stubbed off stock to your shoulder makes it impossible to use the other controls because of the awkward position you have to bend your arms into.

To be fair I am a big man at 6ft 280 so I took my misgivings with a grain of salt. I had three others test it as well my GF who is 4ft 10, my mom is 5ft 2 and the niece i mentioned earlier at just over 4. Not a one could use this thing.

I also have a Topshot elite that I used on this game, the Topshot works like a charm so my advice folks forget this package deal and buy the game alone (the game is a solid 4 star), you can get one of the the Topshot elite game title packages for under $20
