I live in Hagerstown, MD and you can buy games off of people in the street that hasnt even come out yet. I bought Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005 and Need For Speed Underground 2 about a week ago. I have and played every recent Cabela's Hunter game out there for the PlayStation 2 and I must say Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005 is a great improvment. There are greatly improved graphics in the animals and in the enviroments and the gameplay has improved much too, like now you can run longer without losing your breath, you have much much better guns, knives, bow and arrows, and now they've added traps to the game. The enviroments are incredible, there is much bigger landscaping and room for you to move in and yes, there is climing up hills without sliding and dieing. The animals are incredible, there are lions, tigers. cheetahs, buffalo, baboons, rhinos, elephants, and big big bears, so watch out! And believe it or not, while I just reached the top of a mountian there was a UFO flying in the air! There arent that many cons about this game exept for the guy who ticks you off when you shoot the wrong animal and he says "Warning, I told you..." Gosh, I hate that guy. Well, thats about it for my review. I hope it has helped you, alot! I gave this game a rating of 5 stars in fun and 4 stars in gameplay.

It works ok on my computer, except that in the final campaign I can no longer access my inventory and re-installing didn't help. In the first scenario, when you are hunting in the "jungle of South Dakota" the trees and brush are so thick you can't see your quarry. The red dots aren't much help, because the animals can be ten feet from you or ten miles away. When you finally manage to get out of the initial scenario, the game picks up and becomes quite enjoyable. But my hunter keeps fainting, for no apparent reason, even when he's wearing proper clothing and I keep plying him with food and drinks and keep him at a walk. Very annoying when you've finally hit a big horn sheep with the requisite bow-and-arrow, and your hunter faints! (What a wimp!) It's kind of neat when a bear or other predator sneaks up on you and mauls you. (No, really!) Though I doubt if the game warden would merely find you unconscious after you've been mauled by a grizzly! The graphics after the first scenario are gorgeous and highly detailed. Except for these really lovely graphics, there isn't much to recommend it over the many other hunting games on the market. Oh, well - buy it on sale!

Some reviews for this game put it dowm, but I think it's great. You travel to different terrians and hunt many different animals from Whitetail deer to cougars. There is no small game hunting , even though foxes and rabbits come up when looking through your scope. during the game you can buy different weapons and gear. You can chose your weapon to be either a bow, shotgun, pistol,or rifle. All the guns are very detailed, as well as the animals. As a hunter, I know that this game does take alot of the hard work of hunting out of it, but it still is a lot of fun!!!

This game is so much fun!!! However, for any type of serious gamer this game is plagued with errors and mishaps.
This game is a pain in the ass. To be completely real, in over 16 years of comprehendable games...this is the worst. It has excellent game play and all, but the ERROR messages which FORCE you to reset the game after a long hunt (1 hr or so) is not worth it. (I did what the company told me and I got an unknown error message). THIS GAME SUCKS....DO NOT BUY IT...UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FRUSTRATION

Game is Fun, but watch out,

I like this game. One reviewer mentioned that it is frustrating when you aim and think you are shooting an animal, and all you get is a tree or part of the hill. I agree with that, but it can be part of the fun, but it can also get old pretty quick. It's a fun game, but if it were possible to give this game 0 stars, I would have. The game has a variety of terrains. You start off in the Forest, and if you make it through that, you go to the Marshes, and then on to the Desert, and so on. Well, I made it through part of the Desert terrain twice before I got a big black screen and an "Out of Memory" error. Thought it was a fluke, started out again at my last saved spot, got to the same place and got the same "Out of Memory" error. I wrote to Activision. They said that I purchased too much stuff at the "store", and that I should only keep what I think I'm going to use for each area. (I didn't see this suggestion in the book.) So, I tried it, even though I thought that if a game allows the player to do something, then it shouldn't give you an "out of memory" error if you do it. Then you have to resort to contacting the company to find out what you need to do to avoid it. If the game lets you do it, then the game should be programmed, or at least not released until these bugs are fixed. Anyway, I did what they suggested...didn't even get past the "Marshes" before getting the same error. This game sucks....even though it's a blast to play. I have a pretty big PS2 game library, and I have never encountered a game that had these kinds of bugs. Don't waste your money on this game, unless you can get it for a couple of bucks, because that's about all the game time you can expect to get out of it.

This game had great potential. The overall idea of adding a story mode to hunting and hunting for all different types of animals sounded very good, and it is. The problem is the terain which you are hunting in. The dense forest filled with tall grass too many trees and plenty of unneccessary hills and slopes all get in your way of the animals you are trying to hunt for yes even up close. So basically what your dealig with is spotting the animal with your scope and either having it run for cover quickly or firing a bullet into a small hill or tree thats in the way. The scopes on the rifles dont zoom very far so all you see is a red arrow pointing down at the animal(which you cant see 99% of the time) and a description of the animal. Just when you think you got it you fire your gun only to watch the bullet cam steeryour projectile straight into a tree or some other obstruction before the animal. Other problems with the game include the characters lack of stamina meaning you can only run about 20 ft before he has to stop and catch his breath majorly slowing down the game and causing frustration as you watch the animal run away while your outta shape has to stop and rest to recover a little energy. In addition to that your player cant climb many hills or drive up them and the hills arent even that steep. THeres more negatives but I think you have heard enough. There is a fun factor to this game, it is just hindered big time by some of the annoying problems I have mentioned. I HAVE A SOLUTION DIE HARD HUNTERS. Go buy the much better and more realistic Cabela's Deer Hunt 2005 which is an awesome game where you will confront none of the problems that I have mentioned about this one. The price is the same but the quality is way better

My husband & son have had a great time playing this game, especially on a large screen with surround sound throughout the room! Hearing some of the sounds behind & all around you while playing the game makes it so much more real!

I got this game when it came out in 2005 and I must say it was difficult starting off. Its even more difficult without the aids. But once you learn the ropes, everything is fine. It is more interactive with the other characters and a real "longhunting" adventure where you can camp out to recooperate from injury and fatique and trek though each section. I like it. Its not quite as dangerous as the other games, but plenty of animals will attack ya. So be on your guard and I cant stress enough about resighting in your rifle. It shows that wear and tear will throw the zero off eventually. Its also the first video game I was able to complete. But would I try it on Hard difficulty? Ill save that for another review. Enjoy.
