With the world as their playground, players will explore a vast expanse of mountains and valleys with unprecedented choices in direction never before seen in a Cabela's hunting game. Players can climb an area to get a better angle for the shot but risk being spotted, or they can take a low elevation route with poor visibility but plenty of concealment. Nature doesn't always wait for you to make the first move as the dynamic weather and natural hazards make the hunt even more challenging. The challenge doesn't end there. Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012 ups the ante with the most realistic animals ever seen in the Cabela's series. Every animal's unique movement gives clues on what the animal will do next. In order to bag the trophies, players will have to avoid detection through cunning, skill, and deception. They must also utilize master hunting skills such as advanced stalking techniques so they can quickly move through cover and close in on their targets.

Concept Excellent "A", Graphics EXCELLENT "A" you really feel like your walking through the woods!!! Execution of using gun FAIR "C". There are 2 parts to game Gallery Mode and Story Mode. Gallery Mode gun is critical. Per Activision Tech support Gun calibration on big screen TVs known issue (Xbox360/PS3. After hours of frustration and phone calls. Tech support said change sensor from 1 hr (factory default) to 3 hours. With a 50inch LED HDTV (Samsung 8000 series) I was FINALY able to get a WORKABLE calibration at 15ft 11inches. Once that was done I found shooting in Gallery Mode much more maneuverable WITHOUT the scope on the rifle and in Story Mode much easier/enjoyable using the standard controller. Would definitely buy again. Have shot competitively and am former Marine (many many years ago)

Fun:
I'm not a gamer. I barely play anything more than 10-15 minutes. This game kept my attention for 4 straight hours outta the box. Great layouts, great fun. The only minor annoyance is the dialogue during the cut scenes. Overall, I'd recommend to anyone that enjoys any of the Cabela's games.

I haven't really been interested in any shooting game for years, let alone a hunting game. (I am a scrawny computer nerd.) I was expecting a really simple shooting game, and was pleasantly surprised and challenged. This is a very well structured and thought out game. It's not just a simple shooting gallery. You feel like you are actually hunting. There are goals and objectives which must be met, and you can develop a bit of skill. Granted, this is not like actual hunting, but as close as you can probably get with a video game.
Good game for the money. It will keep you going for hours. Definitely buy it with the Top Shot elite. You won't be sorry.
Cons: The gun calibration is a bit complicated, and you have to work a bit to get it just right. Also, control can be a bit awkward at times. It takes a bit of getting used to. Once you have everything calibrated, and have the controls down pat, really enjoyable and challenging game. :-)

With Top Shot Sport for Xbox 360 could be fun...
Call me a wuss but the shotgun style controller was front heavy making it hard to aim and move successfully for very long. Read more

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012
This game is great! My son played it endlessly until he was able to beat it. I would recommend it to anyone who loves hunting. I will definitely purchase the next version!
