4.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as it seems
Cabela's has made a lot, and I mean a lot, of hunting titles. Whether or not they're enjoyable is your opinion, but I think that the games reached their highest points in 2004-06 then started to feel more like killing sprees than authentic hunting experiences. Despite this, Legendary Adventures may be the best hunting experience I've ever played. The backgrounds and...

Good game in concept but the landscape turns black and white from the Zion Park stage on out. Everything else is color but the main part, the landscape, stays black and white which really makes it difficult to spot the game and totally takes away from the gaming experience as a whole. Another problem occurs when trying to cross checkpoints. The program keep sreturning you to the wrong starting position and won't let you go beyond. Too bad Hunting Unlimited 2008 isn't available on Wii because it is the best Hunting game I've yet to see hit the market. Save your money on this one though...unless you like playing 90% with a black and white landscape.

I have always enjoyed the Cabela's Big Game Hunter series, so I figured I would give this one a try on the Wii.

I was enthralled at first by the way the game is a story told throughout the history of hunting "legendary trophy animals."

The game play is quite simple: track the legendary trophy and do a few side hunts along the way. After doing enough of the extra little tests (ex. "Kill 10 turkeys in under 2 minutes", "shoot 2 raccoons from under 50 yards with one shot each"), the trophy appears and you must kill it.

All fine and dandy until you start shooting at your trophy(goes into slow-motion bullet view) or walk too close to the edge of the map... the game fatal errors and locks up the Wii.

Have tried cleaning the disc, the Wii, the connections... does not change a thing. Once in a while it will even crash at the starting movie.

Great idea for a game, but bad/rushed programming makes this a game you should not buy.

Whether or not they're enjoyable is your opinion, but I think that the games reached their highest points in 2004-06 then started to feel more like killing sprees than authentic hunting experiences. Despite this, Legendary Adventures may be the best hunting experience I've ever played. The backgrounds and animals look great, and the game does a great job keeping you entertained, even while you're tracking down that trophy, by including challenges like shooting two white tail does with a rifle or shooting 2 elk bulls within 50 yards, to game hunter IQ points so you can find and kill the trophy. Now there is the problem that when you're hunting in Utah, the backgrounds convert from color to black and white, which isn't normally that big of a deal and you'll usually begin to ignore it. All in all, a must have for any hunting enthusiasts.
