Product Description

Platform: Nintendo Wii | Edition: Standard

Cabela's North American Adventures gives players the opportunity to experience North America's greatest hunts in over twenty prime hunting locations across the continent. It introduces fresh touches that hunters will appreciate, including a custom gun builder that allows players the ability to create thousands of gun options with a variety of receivers, stocks, barrels, and scopes. The game also capitalizes on the popularity of hunting shows and online videos by adding a cameraman into gameplay - to get compelling footage, hunters need to be at their best! Plus, new Arcade-style TOP SHOT shooting galleries add to the fun, where you can collect power-ups to enhance your abilities and score big points. Last year's hit Wii title Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 introduced the TOP SHOT hunting peripheral, and now Cabela's North American Adventures further integrates it by adding head-to-head multiplayer and refining the arcade-style gameplay to make it even more action packed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kids like it - but I'm not too impressed February 6, 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not much of a Wii player so take my review for what its worth: My 9 and 13 yr old boys like this game and have figured out how to play it. I think it helps to have one of the gun type gizmos for the Wii-mote and nunchuk. I have tried it a little and don't do well. Watching my boys I have to comment on the part where a bullet or arrow is fired at the heart lung area, there is a slow-mo of the bullet or arrow on its path to the target: I think its totally stupid and over emphasizes the wrong things about hunting. Even the boys find it bothersome. We are hunters and I had hoped this would help the boys practice some stalking and aiming skills as well as promoting good hunting ethics. I don't think it does that. I'd rather see the game spend more effort on realistic animal scenes, even when shot, and dump the bullet / arrow flight stuff. In some cases the game is really constraining, you can't even take shots in some cases, apparently because you have to walk some path or reach some landmark first - but its real unclear and annoying to me. I had hoped it would be more realistic. But my boys have fun with it so I gave it a 3 star. I would like to see penalties for irresponsible shooting.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's good January 26, 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Standard
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This game is not great but it's worth playing. You can play in story, shooting gallery and or trophy hunt mode. I am a huge fan of hunting but not hunting games because they are always missing something and none of them are very realistic. This is by far the closest one I've played. It has a good mix of game types and while hunting you can choose between a rifle, bow or shotgun. Advancing levels give you different caliber receivers, scopes, barrels and the like to change out on the guns. Nothing for the bow, though. My only real beef with this game is the totally unrealistic use of calibers. You can use a .223 to take out a moose just as easily as a .300. But don't let that discourage you because the game is still fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It!! February 25, 2013
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
This was a Christmas present for my grandson. Not sure who enjoyed it more, my grandson or my son who is an avid hunter. Even got my grandaughters into it even though they'd rather shoot animals with a camera rather than a gun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Realistic hunting to the max December 25, 2010
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Standard
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
We all know that dangerous hunts is as far from realistic hunting as walking around wal mart with a water gun. This game, is actually pretty close and pretty fun, with great graphics.

The storyline in this game is actually decent for a cabelas game. Your a guy from a hunting TV show, and its behind the scenes basically- the making of the show. You travel across North America hunting all sorts of trophy animals. There are bird hunts, varmint hunts, even predator hunts for you to do, but none of the animals can hurt you. Theres a shooting gallery mode also- thats a lot of fun for a classic arcade style game.

This game is very realistic. No more walking around to trigger an event, you actually get to in a stand and call in an animal, or sneak up close through the brush, or walk around to a cliff to get a good angle- all sorts of different methods. Stands vary from a tripod to a "Duck Blind" that is nothing more than some bushes and logs. Every hunt has more than 1 species in it, and 2 parts to every animal. For example, in one hunt you are hunting a pack of wolves where there is a black wolf you want to kill. After you kill the wolf, you go back to the moments directly before and after you kill the wolf and get footage of it.

One notice for people who are very avid gamers- this may not be for you. This game is more for people like me who spend more hours hunting then playing video games. Dont get me wrong- its a fun game, but I reccomend it for people who actually have hunting experience rather than people who have the video game version of hunting experience- both are very different. If you want a game thats more the gamers- why not try remington super slam hunting africa/north america, or deer drive?

Just another Cabelas hunting game. Nothing too special here, but it is better than other name brand games I've tried.
