5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this game!
I can understand why a lot of people would not like this game simply because there is no way you can hunt on your own. There is only a sotry mode or a trphy chase mode. Obviously the story mode is self explanitory and the trphy chase mode is timed. However, this game is fun, the story mode is great. The reason for this is, is that it doesn't JUST set you up to shoot...

Obviously the story mode is self explanitory and the trphy chase mode is timed. However, this game is fun, the story mode is great. The reason for this is, is that it doesn't JUST set you up to shoot something, it adds challenge to it, and if you screw up, on many it gives you different ways to accomplish the hunt. Many of the hunts are challenging enough to see walkthroughs on. I've played the story mode there times and every time is different in ways. It's a game worth the try!

Main drawbacks were this kind of irritating guide who pops up now and again giving advice. Also some of the gadgets that the game wants you to employ are a bit much, gps, scent spray, etc. Overall liked this game and viewed against most games it is worth the $. >>> Edit added later. I found the fishing scenarios irritating beyond measure, seemed redundant and pointless. Reduced the stars rating from 4 to 3.

Bieng an avid outdoorsmen and a big fan of the cabelas games since ps2 days i had high hopes for this game! this game is terrible and extremly boring. im using it as a coffee table coaster as we speak. the game is repetitive after the first 5 mins. and its not realistic by any stretch of the imagination.. who sets out to shoot running deer?? seriously?? maybe if you miss the first shot i can understand even then you risk hurting the animal and not making a clean kill. but never to start out. cabelas is usually realistic and this game was a huge disappointment to me. id recommend spending your money on a pack of sewing needles before you buy this game. i dont what happened because cabelas has always been so good when it comes to putting there name on a hunting game!!

I love it! Great Game.
Ive already made it thru the entire game and am starting on it again.
I wish it had trucks and jeeps in it though that way you could drive around, maybe even a camping adventure.
Cant wait for the next one

IT gets you through the game extremely fast. Some of the things that pissed me off, i could not run off certain hills, having wide gaps between objects and not get through without the ruffling of the trees. I was also no a fan of having to follow the guide, or that every stage has its own outcome many of the being shooting not effecting the animals; ie when you have to find the 3 sent markers you can shoot and do anything until u find those markers, and u can keep shooting and running until you get to your safe shooting point, where is changes scenes while no previous actions seem to matter.

I think they could have added to the game by letting you break off and do small game hunting, like i would like to have been hunting pheasants with bird dogs for awhile until i wanted to start the deer hunt.

Overall its an okay game the $39 starting price says a lot about it while other platforms start at $59, I would like it better if the drop you off at a lodge and search for signs on you own and could set up however you wanted, and kill anything that moves, ie fish in rivers, the forest and woodland critters, even possible a guide.

All of us in the family love this game and every kid on the neighborhood that comes over wants to play it since it is not in every kid's collection yet. Some boys went home with dreams of owning a BB Gun one day! We are a Cabela's kinda family!

2.0 out of 5 stars I never knew that killing things could be so...boring., September 11, 2009

Throughout "Cabela's Outdoor Adventures," I asked myself one question: who actually plays these games? I mean, if you're a hunter, then you'll actually go hunt. If you're a gamer, there is myriad survival horror games for your palate.

And yet, Cabela's has put out so many of these games, it is obvious that someone is buying them. Honestly, I strain to find ANY pros for this game, so the best I could come up with is:

Pros:
- The trophies are really, really easy. Trophy [...], come one, come all!

Cons:
- the graphics are mediocre. For a game with as little going on as this one, you would think that the graphics would be better. But you are treated to bland character designs, lazy landscapes. I guess the animals are kind of nice. Sort of.
- the sixaxis controls, as usual, suck. Here's the thing, PS3 - you're not the Wii. Stop pretending you are. Your sixaxis motion control is a joke. And the silliness of making ridiculous motions on your controller in order to make a good duck call is downright laughable. Leave the motion controls with the company that got it right, and be content in the knowledge that you still have the best handheld controller in the business.
- The gameplay will literally have you laughing out loud. During one hunt, I had to find scent markers. Of course, smell-o-vision has not yet been invented. The solution? You can actually see clouds of scent appearing on the screen. Talk about simulating the hunting experience. Other laughable encounters have you catching multiple fish in minutes, or shooting 10 ducks in two minutes, etc. etc. It's a monumental joke.
- The controls are frustrating. I have to hit the L2 button to aim, followed by...the L1 button to stabilize? Give me a break. One of the worst offenders is walking, where a simple pebble can obscure your path.
- The guide. This game might have improved immensely if I could have riddled my guide's body with 100 bulletholes, while trying to evade the warden and his evil deputies through the wildernesses of Alaska. Instead, I am treated to a guide who has an annoying voice, and the patience of a one-year old (worst offender: in the first mission, after shooting 10 pheasants, the guide calls for me to come to him. However, due to the slow pace of my walk, he actually called me 5 more times as i was in transit!).

Overall, this is a mediocre experience. I guess armchair warriors who don't actually like blood (animals don't bleed when you shoot them, presumably to keep the T rating) might enjoy this. But honestly, I feel pity for anyone who purchases this one.
