Book Description

Zachary Steel is a handsome, mid-twenties, stay-at-home father, who sacrificed his promising industrial career to make life better for his children. He finds his now sole-bread-winning wife becoming resentful and more vicious and then he learns – unfaithful. His passion copes by throwing him into his small, struggling California winery investment.

Among the Temecula Valley vineyards, Zack glimpses the promise of love again when he meets Claire Vega touring the wineries with her friends – a captivating and smart young woman finishing her business degree.

Claire wonders why she finds this young married man so charming and desirable and worries she is only his fling when she wants so much more of him. Zack is terrified Claire could abandon him and twist his heartache for her into disappointment, sadness, and dark loneliness – especially when he finds she has been keeping a secret from him.

Can they cling together through tragedy and strengthen each other against family opposition to their growing relationship? Will they build trust and True Love on top of hot desire among the California vineyards? Will they find despair … or happiness?

1.0 out of 5 stars Miserable July 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was painful to get through emotionally draining in its misery, disheartening. Even with the 'happy' ending, it left a feeling of dissatisfaction, emptiness.

Zack and Lydia were miserable together. Lydia was hostile, unpleasant, mean and dysfunctional. I understand Zack took as much as he did for the sake of his children and to keep as much peace as he could, but he ended up being Lydia's whipping boy.

Claire's brother and sister were selfish and useless. Claire was boring. Lydia got what she deserved. I was glad to see Amanda get far away from Nick.

I was glad to finally see good things happen for Zack, but by the time it happened, I was exhausted from wading through all the crap in his, Claire's, and Lydia's lives.

I disliked Lydia, didn't mind Zack, was indifferent to Claire. Although Claire and Zack had a relationship, I felt no connection between them. The sex scenes were even blah. Nothing in this book made me want to revisit the author's writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fabulous July 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
What a wonderful book. The story of Zack and Lydia is already over when you begin reading it, but we have to go along for the ride to see what a bitch see really is. Zack does everything in his power to save his family and his marriage, but Lydia is such a micromanager that she only sees what she wants to see. Zack's failures in the past and what he doesn't do now. What she doesn't see is what he does day in and day out, which is take care of the home and love the children. They have invested a small amount into a winery and Lydia sees it as a dead end. Zack sees it as a possibility to their future. He meets Claire, but by the second time he sees her, he does tell her he is married. But he feels something for her. Both Zack's world and Claire's world are falling apart around them, but they continue to be friends only. Only, in their hearts, they grow to fall in love. They don't act on it until Zack is in the process of his divorce, which Lydia has already proven she never even waited. Lydia uses the children over Zack and puts them in a position that could truly harm them. This is a book about finding your true love in both with your soul mate and what you do in life. I hope there is another book to go along with this to see what continues to grow at Golden Mountain.

I want to like this book I so really do but I struggled to get through every page. I think one of the main reasons it was so difficult is it went on and on about Zach's life and problems in too great of detail. I understand he was unhappy and things with going wrong with his relationship with his wife and also struggled making ends meet but as I read chapter after chapter about it I felt it was a pity party rather than a soon to be romance novel.

I truly hate giving low reviews because I know authors put their heart and souls writing a book and it takes even more courage to release to the public to read. The writing overall is good, but the storyline was too long winded for me. I think others may like it but this one was just not for me. ;-((

Save yourself the confusion and annoyance.. SKIP it. This book is not worth the paper or digital device it was displayed on! Arrghhh!
