Editorial Reviews

CLEAN. 2012 release, the long awaited sophomore album from the Southern California rocker dudes. The album, produced by Mario C., was recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas and features collaborations with Matisyahu, Del the Funky Homosapien, Ky-Mani Marley and Rome. Cabin, the follow up to 2008's Any Port in a Storm, showcases the band's signature Rock/Reggae/Hip-Hop sound that that is synonymous with its good vibes.

Definitely one of my favorite bands!

This album has a few more love songs in it, so I am glad to see one of the boys has found love.

There is not one bad song on it and every song is really, really, good.

As the title says I have no words to describe how perfect this album. When I listen to it I don't think wow this is really good or something like that. When I listen to it I just get a feeling. This album just gives the listener such a high no drug could ever hope to give. It just makes you feel that "every little thing is gonna be alright." As I'm typing this I'm listening to the track Day by Day and I just can't stop smiling. Every track you can just feel the energy and passion from it. Some tracks are just so atmospheric and beautiful you just want to close your eyes and listen. Other tracks are far more upbeat but just as beautiful and you can't help but to start moving to it. For me this is the greatest album in almost 16yrs. I've liked the Dirty Heads since I first listened to them back in '08, but Cabin by the Sea made me fall in love with them. This record totally blew my expectations out of the water. This album is just 49min and 52sec of pure ecstasy and happiness.

The band Dirty Heads dishes out a great blend of Hip-Hop and Reggae & Rock in this new CD titled 'Cabin By The Sea'. The CD (16 tracks) has an interesting opening rocky track "Arrival" : great guitar finger pick-ups, vocals & melody as well as the incredible closing track "Farewell" : wonderful guitar chords, fused with great sea noise and bass (very melodical)! Stand-outs tracks include "Spread Too Thin" (up-tempo track with great melody), "Your Love" (great duet featuring Kymani Marley) & "Farewell". Great Tracks include "Cabin By The Sea" (rocky title track), "Dance All Night" (featuring Matisyahu), "Hipster" (great horns playing), "Notice", "Day By Day", "Burn By Myself" (up-tempo track with great guitar chords & melody) & "Best Of Us". Okay tracks include "Disguise", "Mongo Push" (featuring Rome), "Smoke Rings" (featuring Del the Funky Homosapien, some swearing here), "We Will Rise" & "Love Letters".

On overall, Dirty Heads deliver an enjoyable blend of Hip-Hop & Reggae and Rock, total CD length of 49 minutes and 52 seconds, a recommended CD listening.

The music really rocks, the lyrics are fantastic and engaging, but if you are an audiophile, this is in the B list. High B, but certainly not A.

I just downloaded this album today, and I've already heard it twice. Love the mellow direction they took this album in. I am a Sublime super fan, and I'd have to say that these guys and Matisyahu are the only music groups that have even come close to measuring up in this genre. Most of these songs are just amazing. Amazing collaborations, especially Matisyahu on Dance All Night. I'm wondering how Dirty J has such a great singing voice. I never heard that on the first album. What makes this group work is that it has two singers, and that they are both supremely talented. The song with Kymani Marley was so great as well. Hipster has to be my favorite song on the album right now, but it's only been one day. It's got such rhythm and flow to it, and it also has some dope rapping in it. I can't possibly describe the feeling I got from some of these songs. It was just like, "This is amazing!" and "Oh, my God, that was sick!"

This album has a more reggae-based vibe to it, but these guys still know how to put hip-hop in almost every song. Any Port in a Storm was just fantastic, and this album is amazing, literally. It amazed me at how good it is. And it actually has a positive message, which is rare in music. These guys are singing about following your dreams and being who you are, etc. Seriously, best album I've bought since Sublime's Everything Under the Sun. And that was a boxset. This album should shoot these guys into the mainstream, and most of these tracks could be radio hits, which would be great for them.

Amazing album from a great band that continues to evolve & grow up on their second major label release. Rap songs, love songs, pop songs, reggae songs...it's all here, and better than ever. DH took the winning, collaborative formula that kept "Lay Me Down" at #1 & improved on it with stellar guest contributions from Rome Ramirez, Matisyahu, Ky-Mani Marley & Del tha Funky Homosapien. The band also expanded their sound with the great addition of horns, trumpets and more. Some will label this as a "Summer Album", music for hippies, so forth & so on, but if you like good music that will make you move, buy this album!

Just an all-around great album. I'm a bit of a hard rock type, so listening to this is a little out of my comfort zone. I had heard Cabin by the Sea, and fell in love with the song. Smoke Rings is my other favorite song on the album.... just great great music to chill or cruise to.

This lived up to my expectations after having listened to 'Any Port in a Storm' so many times. It has the original sound but with even more growth and a few collaborations mixed in.
