Book Description

January 30, 2000
THE CABIN BY THE CREEK is a truly compassionate story about the lives of two culturally different young people who met in Warsaw, Poland. Magnetism's opposite poles attracted this couple and bonded them with unyielding love and deep devotion. They married and their love blossomed to form a solid union of minds and hearts.

Polands oppression, insecurity, and poverty continued to threaten this young tender couple but each individual possessed a deeply-rooted spirit of adventure. Their courage made them determined to follow the path taken by their friends' ancestors. They, as well, decided to immigrate to the Land of the Free - the United States of America. Here, they believed they could realize their goals and dreams of living in a free, prosperous and everlasting peace together. Strong, unyielding faith in each other, and in their God, together with fervent respect for their fellow man, were virtues that guided them.

As the story unfolds it reveals many life experiences unanticipated by this struggling couple who created and nutured a loving family in this new rugged yet tranquil but entirely different environment. Through turmoil and confusion, the entire family acheived success while continuing to influence others with their many acts of kindness. A contagious compassion radiated from this family unit. Follow this family's adventures in a new land from starting a dry-goods store, to mining, to constructing a railroad in the Adirondacks. They followed the American dream and succeeded by hard work.

After turbulent times and successful undertakings, this family attained success. Each of their children gradually flew away from their family's nest and created lives of their own, but always retained their sense of family closeness.

They watched over their now aging parents, who still remain close to each other.

About the Author

Having surpassed my sixth decade in life while residing most of my lifetime within the township of Ausable, NY, which partially surrounds the Village of Keeseville, I admit that my place of residency is nearly within spitting distance of beautiful Lake Champlain, a narrow but lengthy freshwater lake separating northern New York from the state of Vermont.

Throughout my interesting lifetime, I have searched for challenges in various fields. My employment was a much diversified as it was confusing while I "tested the waters" trying to find success.

I remain happily married to Wanda, burn an only child to remarkable parents. She continues to be the love of my life and constantly protects me.Together, Wanda and I have struggled to raise three wonderful children - first a son, then two daughters. They have blessed us with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

This third child of seven children has found employment as a security person/janitor, a salesman, a postal clerk, co-owner of a family restaurant, a maintenance manager to a senior housing development, and a certified operator of a nearby municipal water and wastewater treatment facility. I served a single tour of duty with the U.S.

Marine Corps soon after gratuating from school.

I have been self-employed for several years but had recently developed constructions to the nerves in my hands and legs as well as a severe heart condition and survival from lung cancer all of which had rendered me disabled. I turned towards crafts and soon constructed a scaled down version of a colonial log cabin which was followed by a gentleman's barn and a carriage shed/milk house and tack room structure.

I then turned my attention toward "showing off" my crafty models of early American structures to the people who would most appreciate their meaning - the senior citizens who live in senior housing and in various nursing facilities. I soon realized I needed a short story which could captivate attention for a brief period while I displayed my crafts. Well, this short story, nearly four years later, has evolved into my writing "The Cabin By The Creek". I must admit that this has been delightful and challenging.

This review is from: The Cabin by the Creek (Hardcover)
This is a very nicely paced book. The back gound and detail in the story are both convincing and draw the reader into the story. He seems to bring the main characters to life right before your eyes. He never loses the readers focus and yet sets a very high bar, for the reader. While not a great novel in the classical sense (like David Copperfield), it is a better novel than 75% of the books currently on the store shelves. It is a great read, I say Pick it up, you will not be disapointed.
