I had used the Griffin Loop for the iPad when using my iPad in the kitchen. But having a galley style kitchen counter space has always been an issue. Saw this at the Apple Store and liked what it promised, and my local Best Buy had it in stock with no return charges if it did not fit or meet expectations. It met my expectations, and despite what I had read - it fit my shallow cabinets (12 inches, Griffin IIRC says 14 inches).

In the last half year or so I have gotten in to slow cooking. Love the web for recipes that are out there. The free space I had for mounting works better than using the Loop on a cramped part of the kitchen counter for viewing the recipes. The side benefit is that I now can use the iPad to watch ABC Player or Netflix videos when I don't need to read the recipes.

Installing was quite painless with the template provided and decent instructions. Though I would suggest forgetting the pencil thing they mention and punch a hole in the center of the holes to be drilled and use a Sharpie or something easier to see.

I had been using the Apple iPad case; found that this case was too larger to use the mount Griffin uses to make me feel comfortable. The naked iPad fits nicely with room for slightly larger sleeves to maybe work. On that subject, read that it is not recommended to fold the unit back with the iPad attached. I second this. No problems in doing it - but the naked iPad felt as if it could fall out folded back in a stowed position. I just don't want to take that chance.

In the end the Griffin Cabinet Mount is useful for those that need counter space. Some might balk at the cost, I know I was not happy with it. Yet it does the job that it is supposed to. And for those of us that have tried saving space in our kitchens, the price is up there with other space saving options.

This device does exactly what it says it will do, it allows you mount and iPad under a cabinet, and fold down/up.

My only issues is with the plastic grip that holds the iPad. First of all, the iPad must be in a hard shell type case. At first I put my iPad in this holder, and it fell out within a few minutes. I purchased a Griffin hard shell case, and it fits in much better. After a few weeks, I had one instance where the iPad fell out. (For me this is a permanent mount, the iPad has not been removed). To fix, I put a little piece of Velcro on the back of the case, and on the surface of the holder, and it has worked much better.

This is the only device on the market I've seen that accomplishes this task, and it does it well once you iron out these items. The metal hardware is very strong.

Great product, and I will purchase another. However, if you are thinking about purchasing this product you will need to place your iPad in a skin prior to seating it in the mount. This is true for both the iPad 2 and iPad 3 if you don't want to risk having it fall out. The extra 5 bucks for a cheap skin is well worth it for a secure fit.

I needed an iPad stand for my kitchen, but HATE having my counter tops cluttered. This under-cabinet mount fit the bill perfectly. I looked at two other models on Amazon, but there seems to be very limited options. The other mounts looked too bulky to me. I ordered this hoping it wouldn't be an eyesore. I'm glad I did! I love it! It keeps my iPad away from any danger (spills, etc) and looks slick. My husband installed it without even using the template. He didn't have any problems, but I saw that there is an installation video on YouTube just in case.

In all fairness, it is not 100% perfect, but it's the best thing going! It does hang down about 3 inches from the under side of the cabinet, and it does not angle upward (toward your face) very far. It swivels great side-to-side and also rotates for horizontal or vertical viewing. I have tried it with my iPad 1 in its silicone case and also without the case. It is fine both ways. I would think that it would work for the iPad 2, if it had a case on. Heck, you can always return it if not.

I use it to look at recipes, listen to pandora, etc. I have the apple bluetooth keyboard and am thinking of tucking it into a kitchen drawer so that I can type from the counter also! When in use it looks pretty sleek next to my other chrome & stainless. When it is folded up it's really not too noticable. All in all, probably the most useful and impressive iPad accessories I have ever owned.

This mount went up very quickly and was easy to install in our kitchen. Only two holes needed to be drilled and it comes with clear instructions and a template to tape under the cabinet to help guide you.

Couple observations:

1 - With or without the ipad installed it doesn't tuck up "hidden" under the cabinet. I don't really see how it could though. The iPad is a certain thickness, the bracket that holds onto the iPad has to be larger to get around it and hold it, plus add the arm that holds the bracket.. well.. you'd need to have a cabinet with a 2 inch "lip" to be able to hide it. That may end up meaning that it doesn't pass the wife test. We're still evaluating whether or not it's going to stay there.

2 - Everything is really tight from moving the arm up under the cabinet to the left and right adjustment of the bracket. I think this mainly is a result of how tightly you tighten the screws at the pivot points.

3 - I ignored the directions (yes, bad me) and left the iPad in the bracket with it folded under the cabinet. It's been like that for a couple days and I haven't heard any crashes (i.e. it's still there). One note on this.. I do have a rubberized case around the iPad. I almost think that this would be a requirement for this holder as without that case I believe it would be too loose and the iPad would fall out. Try at your own risk.

Overall, I think this is a great mount. I hope that it can stay in my kitchen. :)
