5.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent coverage of John Malone"
Malone is so pivotal a figure in telecommunications and cable that I'm surprised it took so long for anyone to tackle him. Robichaux has done an excellent job of getting inside the mind of one of the most compelling characters in American business. This one rates a 'must read!'

2.0 out of 5 stars Slick; Totally One-Sided, No Real Analysis
What this book is really about is how during the last 1/4 of the 20th Century, our governments allowed a few rough and tough businessmen to carve out the new American technologies, with little or no regards to any public interest. First of all, the entire satelitte technology came out of Naval communications and had been paid for already by Federal taxpayers. Then the...

Mark Robichaux delivered the inside story of one of the world's most influential and visionary business figures. His narrative takes readers from the wild, wild west to the hallowed halls of Wall Street and everywhere in between. This is a fabulous read that deconstructs the enigma of John Malone. 5 Stars!

This is a terrific read! Mark Robichaux brings life, substance and considerable insight into the thinking of John Malone, a reclusive industry giant. With the ease and style of a first rate novelist, he describes the history and complexities of the cable industry and introduces us to a host of other important and entertaining players as the development of this important American industry proceeds.

This book is worth an MBA education. Mr Malone never had it easy but by sheer will and superior brainpower he succeeded. He never took no for an answer & always tried new ways to get something done. A true innovator and industry leader, Mr Malone is truly a business superstar.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cowboy Malone, September 17, 2007
I liked the way it was written. It gives you a broad idea of how the cable industry developed over the years. Goes in to details of specific deals that gives you a better feeling of how the industry dealt with growth, changes in technology, competition, content suppliers, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Insightful, January 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Cable Cowboy: John Malone and the Rise of the Modern Cable Business (Hardcover)
Mark Robichaux captures the excitement, headaches, heartaches and drama of the growth of TCI under John Malone's brilliant watch. Much more than a compilation of facts and figures (which are generously provided), the book thoughtfully combines both chronology and subject narrative to provide a clear picture of Dr. Malone's thought processes, motives, decisions, and even his emotions at each step during the tumultuous growth of the cable business. As a Denver resident who has watched this evolution, I found the inside story adds great perspective to the history as I remember it. Beautifully written, truly capturing the brilliance behind each play.
