More About the Author

C. Lee Brown, creator of Methanasia and Tales of the Bard, is a lover of all different sorts of secrets, myths, legends, and adventures. Born in Illinois, he was an only child. He had three children from his first marriage and is a proud grandfather of seven. Formerly a military veteran with over twenty years work in intelligence and a world traveler, he now resides just south of Savannah, Georgia. Lee worked in Law Enforcement as a Police Captain for several years after retiring from the Army; then went on to work for the Georgia Department of Labor as a Local Veterans Employment Representative, LVER, for over thirteen years. An active veteran, he co-founded a local American Legion Post in the late 90's as the first commander and also published documentaries as the historian. Twice retired, he now spends most of his time painting and writing. His first fantasy novel, Cable Hornman:The Bard Begins, is set in a faraway world in the future. It artfully blends a science fiction premise and fantasy where a colonized planet's population is decimated, thrown into an ice age and emerges as a medieval land called Methanasia. As an editor, A Visitor to Sandahl is his first anthology. It incorporates the same fantasy world and sets the short stories in a centrally located town called Sandahl. Ten writers recruited from all over the globe contributed stories for this delightful fantasy romp.

An excellent read - Cable is a character you fall in love with immediately - great supporting characters - wonderful world building - but watch out for Xthril! The Drow is wicked.

"The Bard Begins" has a wonderful plot line with suspense in each chapter. Cable is well developed but has potential to grow with his adventures. His nemisis Xithril is captivating--readers will love her for her beauty, brains, and abundance of BAD. Perhaps what pleased me most (although many facets pleased me) was the attention to setting and description. Writers can often provide too much and lose their readers; this author creates Cable's world with few words, but they are speicific words that vividly paint time, place, and atmosphere. As Twain reminds us, "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug."

I'm working my way through my Amazon Gift card. I didn't realize how inexpensive books were and how many there are. My friend told me about the kindle app for PCs.

Cable Hornman is a fantasy lovers dream come true. A colorful world well constructed, people and creatures you can believe in. Rich with action, heroes, heroines and villains, I couldn't put it down. I recommend this novel to all who enjoy this genre.
