Book Description

June 23, 2010
From the moment Cable jumped into the time stream with the infant "mutant messiah," he's had only one goal: keep Hope alive until she can choose her own destiny. But now, stranded on a planet in its death throes, eating fried rat on a stick for the millionth time, Hope turns to Cable and tells him she's ready to go home. Thus begins "Homecoming," the penultimate chapter in the X-Men saga that began with "Messiah CompleX." It's not only zero hour for Cable and Hope, but also for the mutant hunting them, Lucas Bishop, who is rapidly running out of chances to save mutantkind and the world. Because if Hope does make it back to the present, everything changes for the X-Men. Collects Cable #21-25.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazing artwork, but..., October 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cable Vol. 4: Homecoming (Hardcover)
I loved the artwork in the book, but i have to say, the story was not as exciting as some other works in the series. Cable and Hope got back to Earth and their race against Bishop picks up where it left of. It doesn't bring many new things into the story, except for: SPOILER!!!!! We finally see the end (?) of Bishop, and they finally get to the present. Nice addition is the short story Two Mutants and a Baby. I love Deadpool so it was an exciting little detail. But overall I think I wouldn't loose much if I didn't buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cable Series: Excellent Stories, June 8, 2011
By
Thomas Lavalle (Long Beach, NY United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is for the entire Cable Series run: Messiah War, Waiting For the World to End, Stranded, and Homecoming. The entire run follows Cable as he protects the Mutant "Messiah" baby.

Since the events of "M Day" there have been no new mutant births, until now. The Story "Messiah Complex" follows the immediate actions of this birth, and ends ****SPOILER --> with the mutant baby jumping into the time stream with Cable as a means to protect her and hide her from her enemies*****

The Cable Series follows the adventures these two go through over a 16 year period as they are hunted by another time traveler who is determined to see her dead.

I highly reccomend this entire run to any X-men fans. Each volume builds on its previous one and we see the growth of both Cable and the mutant baby. We see the realtionship between these two grow from Protector & Guardian to Father & Teacher. We see the baby grow into a teenager, we see her struggle with a life not only on the run, but on the run through time travel. Duane Swierczynski shows an amazing understanding of both these charaters and finds new and creative ways to show exactly how you hunt someone through time.

This series also takes place outside of the "X Universe" until the X-Force Crossover: Messiah War; but you do not need to follow any of the other X titles to enjoy this run. This series ends with Homecoming, and then is followed by the X-Men Mega event "Second Coming".

Great book, great art, highly reccomended.

Must Reads prior to reading this:
Messiah Complex

Reccomended Reads:
Avengers Dissaembled
House of M
Second Coming (After you read this series)

3.0 out of 5 stars Time Jumpers, January 3, 2011
This volume is pretty much what I thought the series would've been like but instead we get the condensed version. Cable & Hope are jumping through the timestream to escape Bishop and to find their way back to the X-Men. There are some really good and gripping fight scenes and a very fitting ending to the confrontation. Some loose ends from earlier volumes are wrapped up as well. The book eventually ends with a set up for Homecoming but I'm content with the ending for the Bishop storyline. The series overall was ok but this book showed there was so much more potential for it.
