Struggled with how to rate this product because, technically, it 'works' when plugged in. However, I suspect that many people will consider this cable because they've purchased the OtterBox Defender Semi-Rugged case and need a dock extender cable.
Well, some $$ and a few days later, guess which dock extender cable isn't compatible with the OtterBox? By "isn't compatible", I mean the plug itself is physically too wide to fit into the data port access space of the OtterBox. I have a message in to OtterBox asking what, if any, device exists that does work with their idiotic case...no response as of yet.
Profoundly disappointing purchase in that regard.

Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this cable for use with my I phone 3 G, dock station, and Otter Box. As another review stated, it will not work with the otter box as is. I contacted CableJive and they made no mention of working on a fix for this, but suggested that some users were able to file the cable down to fit into the otterbox. I did so using a hand file and it works great. Its important to take off a little bit at a time to narrow the plastic around the plug that goes to the phone and round the corners to go into the otterbox. Just remember that its on you if you screw it up. The sound quality is just as good as if my phone was plugged directly in to the dock station, and all functions work such as charging etc.

I've been using this cable for a year now and couldn't be happier with the form, function, and quality. I have a case on my iPhone that is a pain to remove, and with this cable I can dock without removing the case. It's also nice to be able to control the iPhone, answer calls, surf the web, etc while it's docked on the speakers.
The cable is sturdy and has stood up to the twisting, daily plugging/unplugging over the past year and still works great.

Defeats the purpose
