5.0 out of 5 stars great cable, good quality. nice features for the price
This cable really surprised me.
For the prices it is being sold for, I assumed it was one of those lower end cables which lack many of the convenience features.
I say convenience because it's really hard to make a bad quality fiber optic cable because of the way the data is transferred.
So first of all you can rest assured that data transfer with this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Toslink digital audio cable
Cheap and greatest deal for that kind of cable.

Does not fit tight enough into connection sockets and somewhat too flimsy overall.

Should be all black, not dark gray to avoid any visibility from a home theater w black stand and components.

Yet, for the price, at $3.50 w shipping, this is fair for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars great cable, good quality. nice features for the price, May 28, 2009

This cable really surprised me.
For the prices it is being sold for, I assumed it was one of those lower end cables which lack many of the convenience features.
I say convenience because it's really hard to make a bad quality fiber optic cable because of the way the data is transferred.
So first of all you can rest assured that data transfer with this cable is going to be flawless.
Now, to the other features that make this cable easy to use, and will help it last longer:
1. Clips in - some cables do not "clip" in to their ports, so you can't be sure if they are properly inserted, any might fall out of place. Not this one!
2. Length. 8ft. niceeeeee! Usually I need to plan the location of my components because long cables are pretty rare. I like this one.
3. Sturdy cable, the outer shell protects the fiber inside.
Bottom line, I stopped buying monster "THX certified" stuff a long time ago, and I am not going back.
Buy it, you'll enjoy it.

Cables to Go makes great cables at a reasonable price. This optical cable delivers as expected and the shielding isn't overly stiff like some others so weaving it through the swarm of cables behind my entertainment system was a snap. No snags, pliable enough to bend and curve as needed with no added stress on the input connectors. Don't be fooled by ridiculously overpriced cables or scammed by dirt cheap inferior ones. This is a solid product at a good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly!, July 20, 2009

This is a great cable for a great price. At first, I was convinced that it didn't fit into either my TV or my receiver. I would put it in, push, and it would fall right out. Seeing as how this was my first optical audio cable, I googled around and found out that I stupidly left the plastic cap on the end. So if you get this and it isn't fitting, just remember that you need to pull off the little protective tip from each end of the cable, and it'll slide in and lock in perfectly!

Hard to get excited about the performance of an optical digital audio cable, but when it is so inexpensive on Amazon and gives the same or better quality of the $$$$ ones at the brick & mortar stores, it is something to rave about.

I also like that it is 8ft! Someone actually thought about the fact that I might not have all my components on the same shelf or in the same unit. Bravo for thinking of people with entertainment center piers that need long cables.

It's just a cable, but it's a good cable. Snaps in place solid, but the best feature is the rubber sheild is a very soft and flexible variety. When shipping was included I decided to try this one over a couple cheaper ones, very glad I did!

I was shocked to see how much the big box stores charge for audio optical cables. I can't imagine how much better a brand name cable from a brand name store could really be. Turns out, no different or better at all (though that is not always true). After reading the plethora of previous positive reviews I took a chance and I don't regret it. This cable does exactly what it is supposed to, work every time I expect it to. I haven't had a single issue. I highly recommend this cable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product for a great price, August 27, 2009
This review is from: Cables To Go 98038 Premium Toslink Optical Digital Audio Cable (8 Feet, Black/Grey) (Electronics)
How to review a cable? Well...the product works as described and provides a great sound through my speakers. By using this, I was able to eliminate the red/yellow/white cable from the back of my TV allowing me room to plug in other peripherals. I liked that the cable snapped into place ensuring a sure fit and I know that it is not going anywhere.

Like previous posters have written, remember to take off the plastic tips on the end, or it won't fit.

Though the item is not in a fancy package (comes in a plastic bag), it is a great product and works as well as a cable should work.

Great price and worth it if you need a digital audio cable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Main value is in convenience and ease of use, May 10, 2009
This review is from: Cables To Go 98038 Premium Toslink Optical Digital Audio Cable (8 Feet, Black/Grey) (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
When I received this cable, I installed it on my home entertainment system to see if I could detect any noticeable difference in sound quality. I currently use gold-plated RCA jacks to connect my LG DVD player/recorder to my Sony 5.1 amp.

To me, the quality of sound was pretty much the same either way, but the real benefits would be in:

1. Ease of use. It's a lot easier to hook up one cable than several, particularly since you don't have to keep track of right/center/left issues.

2. Sound quality compared to "budget" cabling (I'd assume).

Very reasonably priced; I'd consider this a very good value if your equipment accomodates optical digital cables.

Despite what the marketing folks from some other cable makers (I'm looking at you Monster) would like you to believe. Either digital data is or isn't transferred from one point to another. There isn't a middle ground.

That being said, the Cables to Go Toslink cable does indeed work. It has two things going for it, a lower than average price, and in this case a longer than average length (8' instead of the usual 4'-6'), both of which a big bonuses in the connective cable market.

In short, a recommended product.

Cables To Go, 8 foot digital optical cable are fantastic cabling options for all of you Audio/Visual needs. The coiling feels nice and sturdy and maintains its natural shape no matter how often i pulled and rearranged it in different positions. The cable ends snap in with a nice snug click letting you know that the proper connection was achieved. Overall it has a nice quality feel to it and a noticeable improved feel over other such bargain cables. Don't pass these up if you can get them under 10 bucks.
