4.0 out of 5 stars Worked fine, November 6, 2010
This review is from: Cables To Go SPK-VELO-4KIT2 Premium 900MHz Wireless Indoor/Outdoor 4 Speaker System with Remote and Dual Power Transmitter (4) (Electronics)
My friend was having a wedding and wanted to play some back round music while everyone was socializing. These speakers were the perfect thing we were looking for. During the time these were on sale at Costco for about $120 so we got them. We had already had 2 of the speakers that we got from Kohls which were a different brand but still worked, 900Mhz. When the speakers are plugged into a outlet, the quality is great and so is the range. What is good is that you can toss some batteries into them(we had six speakers and they take 6 batteries each, do the math haha) and they will work wirelessly. The dock also takes 4 AA batteries. The quality is not the best with batteries in them, limited to about 50-75 feet, but still worked for what we needed. Now we have them in our living room and the main dock is connected to the tv and the speakers are all around the room and they work really great. They are the easiest thing to set up. All you do is plug the speaker into the wall or toss in some batteries and then connect the transmitter to the tv and it all works. So if you are looking for some good speakers but dont want the Bose price, then i would recommend you getting these and you will love them.

***PROS***
-They have good sound quality for the price
-You get 4 speakers
-Ipod dock which can be connected to the tv or other device
-Remote which powers the speakers and controls the volume
-Can be battery operated
-Wireless. Just plug into an ipod and your ready to go
-Wall mount ready. Just put 2 screws into the wall and hook the speaker up
-Can be placed in different rooms of the house

***CONS***
-Annoying blue light(can be covered up with black tape)
-Lots of "C" batteries needed so you don't have to have it plugged into the wall
-Signal strength is lowed with using batteries
-Sometimes they turn off when not in us. Pain to turn them all back on and then have to turn up the volume
-One of the speakers likes to make a static noise some times. I can be sitting on the couch and if I move my head a little forward then it makes the noise, I move it back, the noise stops. And about 10 min after I turn the tv off, that speaker likes to make one final good bye static noise.

Design- 5 stars
They are all black, but they do come in different color(black, pink, and white). It almost has a 360 speaker, but the mounting space in the back takes up some room. Then the bass is on the top. The remote is nice to have too, but you have to point it at each speaker to change the volume or turn it on or off. They have a blue LED light, which can be bright and annoying sometimes but you get use to it or you can put a piece of black tape over it too.

Quality- 4 stars
The sound works for what is needed of them. They have good sound when connected to a outlet, but when the batteries are in the quality goes down. They can get very loud if you have a lot of them together. Or you can place them around the house to listen to music in different room. Some times we have one in our kitchen to listen to the tv while we cook and eat (comes in handy).

Overall- 4 stars
They work for what you need and are great to have when ever you are having a party or just want to crank up the music. They are weather proof too.
If this review was helpful to you, plase like it. Thanks!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor sound quality + no stereo support, December 26, 2010

My 2 main disappointments upon plugging those in were:

1) Very poor sound quality, worse than pc speakers. This has nothing to do with signal reception - 1 feet away from the transmitter and the signal seemed strong with no interference. The sound is just muffled, similar to what you hear from those cheap tiny iphone speakers that sell for a few bucks.

2) Discovering these do not support stereo sound. Now, I know I should have paid more attention and noticed 'stereo' is not mentioned anywhere in the product description. I simply assumed that since the speakers were shipping in pairs and due to their popularity and price, that they must be stereophonic.

To conclude, there is simply no enjoyment to be had with this set. It feels like you've gone 30 years back in time in terms of music experience. Whatever advantage wireless brings in, goes away when the first few notes play.

If you care anything at all about the quality of sound you listen to, don't get these speakers. If wireless is a must, get something more expensive, preferably from a different company. I recommend you look for "stereo" in the product description and read all the 1 star reviews. If I was less compulsive, I would've been spared this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works in my classroom and at home, September 4, 2010
I purchased these speakers two years ago refurbished for $89. I placed one speaker in a room that is 30 x 42 and connected it to a laptop and LCD projector and had an instant home theater. The remote can not turn on the speakers which doesn't make sense, but the sound is just fine. In my house I have a 5.8 ghz Uniden 4 phones system and G wireless router which does not interfere with the signal. If you have a 900 mhz phone or baby monitor nearby it might mess up as with any wireless device operating in the 900 spectrum. You can power the speakers with D size batteries or plug the speakers into an outlet which is the way I used it and have no problems. I saw a teacher in my building use the same speakers which made me decided to by a pair for myself. The speakers are close to the size of a 2 liter bottle and sound like computer speakers. You are not getting Bose quality speakers, so don't expect perfection. They are good computer quality speakers that give you wireless capabilities.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wireless Speakers with More Static than Music, March 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cables To Go SPK-VELO-4KIT2 Premium 900MHz Wireless Indoor/Outdoor 4 Speaker System with Remote and Dual Power Transmitter (4) (Electronics)
I have used RCA wireless speakers for years. They're not perfect, but they do a decent job. I thought I would go with speakers with a more modern look, but these were not the speakers to buy. Buzz and static. That's what I got. You also have to adjust the volume on each speaker manually, and most of the time you can't really change the volume. Plus the volume seems to go in and out like waves of loud followed by waves of quiet. This was a total waste of my money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second set- three years later, October 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is our second set of this speaker system, the first one having not survived a recent vicious storm, after three years of service in our back yard. If you are looking for top quality sound, these are not the speakers for you. But if you are looking for a serviceable set of wireless speakers that produce "outdoor BBQ" quality sound these fit the bill. The remote is nice for adjusting volume to fit the conversation levels around the speakers. For the price, they are a good reliable system. We did not experience the interference problems mentioned in other reviews and our base is proximate to a full wireless home office, including wireless router, printers, server and workstations. Our first set lived outside under our open porch roof for their entire three years. We just plugged an iPod into the base and turned the speakers on whenever we went outside, never bothering to bring them in when the weather was bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound solution!, December 7, 2010
This review is from: Cables To Go SPK-VELO-4KIT2 Premium 900MHz Wireless Indoor/Outdoor 4 Speaker System with Remote and Dual Power Transmitter (4) (Electronics)
We were shopping for a sound system for our living room, because as usual, the TV speakers aren't very loud and really get alot of distortion at higher volumes. Our living room is connected to the kitchen, and while you can see the TV from the kitchen, you couldn't really hear it. And if someone was in the kitchen, or the dishwasher was running...forget trying to hear the TV!

Anyway, I had been shopping several systems, but our living room is deep and we didn't want the hassle of running the wires for the rear speakers and we didn't want to spend the extra $200+ for wireless rears. I was just browsing at Costco tonight and found these and figured I'd try them out, and since it was Costco, if I didn't like them I could return them.

I was super excited when I got them out of the box and realized that they are literally plug and go. Couldn't be any easier to install. We have lots of outlets so finding a place to put them was no problem at all. I put one in the front of the room by the TV and one behind the couch on an end table. Those two were plenty loud for the room, so I took the 3rd to the kitchen and put it on the counter. I cooked dinner and ran the dishwasher tonight and couldn't even hear the dishwasher! The speakers were loud enough to drown it out, without being overly loud and without any distortion. (They also have holes in the back for wall mounting, if you are so inclined.) Since they are indoor/outdoor I'm not concerned with any splatter or mess from being in the kitchen, because I should be able to just wipe it off.

Then I took the 4th one out to the garage to see if it would really work as well through walls, and far removed from the transmitter, and I have to say the sound is just as good and clear outside in the garage as in the house. I'm really impressed.
I watched some hockey, listened to some music and part of a movie and the sound was excellent and crisp on all of them.

It is a little annoying that you have to turn each one on individually, and adjust the volume every time (when you turn them off it resets to the lowest setting), but on the other hand, I don't necessarily want them all on ALL the time, either, so it does allow me some versitility with the volume depending on what I'm watching and what I'm doing. I like that it came with multiple ends, too, so you can plug it into lots of different things with ease.

For the price, I don't think they can be beat. They sound just as good, or better, than any full-fledged home theatre system I've heard. They are 900mhz, and most of the "in a box" sets you can get in the couple hundred dollar range are 1000mhz, so that aren't too far behind. They serve our purpose perfectly (adding volume without distortion, and getting sound evenly through the living area) without being a big hassle or too expensive. For the casual user who just wants their TV to sound better, I don't think there's a better option at all. I would highly recommend these to anyone. Even my husband, who's the deaf one (LOL), and was pushing for new speakers, was really satisfied when he got home tonight and heard them.

Since I've only had them a few hours I can't speak for durability or longevity, but for the price, even if they only lasted a year or so they'd still be worth it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Craptacular, February 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cables To Go SPK-VELO-4KIT2 Premium 900MHz Wireless Indoor/Outdoor 4 Speaker System with Remote and Dual Power Transmitter (4) (Electronics)
Ordered this system 9/19/2010, which after ordering, were informed that it was backordered. After waiting 2-3 months it arrived. Being to cold to set it up, we waited til it warmed up. We had an electrical outlet professionally installed for each of the 4 speakers on our patio. When we mounted 2 speakers, we decided to test them. There was a lot of interference mixed in with the music. We were not able to get rid the interference. In the description, they site that the docking station can be used inside with the speakers outside up to 150 feet away. We found they did not work well with the docking station inside or out. When we moved around the patio the signal would change from bad to worse. We recommend that you do not purchase this item.

1.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up; but not worth the effort!, February 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cables To Go SPK-VELO-4KIT2 Premium 900MHz Wireless Indoor/Outdoor 4 Speaker System with Remote and Dual Power Transmitter (4) (Electronics)
I read quite a few reviews before purchasing this product. As promised, it was relatively easy to set up and use. However, the sound quality was so poor, even after using the auto tune feature with all speakers less than 15 feet away from the transmitter, that I did not enjoy listening to it at all. It had a sort of hollow, weak sound with a little bit of flutter in the volume. And the signal frequently faded slightly, occasionally with some static even though I was not using batteries. Finally, both the remote and manual volume control for each speaker seemed to go from "too low" to "blasting you out of your chair" with nothing in between. I was terribly disappointed, especially since it wasn't exactly inexpensive... though I would most definitely call it CHEAP.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor sound quality...do not buy!, September 21, 2010
These speakers use an analog RF link. They pick up a lot of interference resulting in a lot of static in the sound output. Its completely unbearable. These speakers are not cheap enough to justify this poor sound quality.

Warning--monural sound system, despite having 2 speakers and a stereo input plug. Possibly the worst piece of electronics I have ever purchased online.
