You know what it does?
It takes audio over the red and white and makes them plug into things like your computer.
It does this properly.
There has been no sound distortion or muffled sounds or any problems after I switched to this.

Good adapter. Some TV's, like my Westinghouse HDTV, can't use RCA (red and white wires) for audio when using a VGA connection. I have a XBOX 360 and I have component cables. I wanted to get the VGA cable because they WILL give me 1080p when I'm playing a HD-DVD. Component cables are fine, just that it will give everybody a 1080i picture when playing HD-DVD's, but not games though, they provide 1080p for games but not HD-DVD's for some reason.

Well, after numerous calls to Westinghouse and Microsoft about why I can't get audio using the VGA and RCA cables, I did my own research online, and luckily I came across this. Some HDTV's only will allow sound through VGA connection using the "MiniJack" input. REMEMBER THAT GUYS/GALS. It's hard to write a review on a small product, but it get's the job done.

This "3.5-mm stereo male mini-plug to 2X RCA female" adapter measures 2" long X 1" wide. I use it to connect my Xbox 360 audio to a mp3 speaker. It works fine. The audio from the games is as good as any mp3 songs I play through the speaker. I had this adapter for more than seven months and there was no problem of any kind.

I think the product will work just fine. The one thing that did surprise me was that the photo in the add showed a RED and WHITE female connectors (indicating which was left and which was right). The product I received was NOT RED and WHITE but both are YELLOW!!!

When I order a product, I do so based on the information provided me. When the product I receive does NOT have the appearance of the photo I saw when I ordered, it leaves me with mixed feelings about this source of products and unsure whether or not I would order from this source in the future.

Seeing red and white female outputs led me to believe that this adapter separated stereo into left and right channels. I ordered 6 for a project I'm working on. They turned out to be stereo to stereo wihout the red and white colors. The company told me that they have pictures in their ads that are wrong. They asked me to send a photo of the adapters I received and I did, They told me they sent the right adapter and I could return them if it's not what I want. For $7 I kept them. My fault, I guess. Know what your buying.

I was instantly frustrated when I saw the lack of resemblance between the product I received and image shown when buying this product. Red and white inputs were replaced with tan inputs; nevertheless, the product still worked.

Deducted star for the lack of resemblance.

What can I say.. if you need this adapter, why would you but it any other place. It does what it's supposed to and costs way less than Radio Shack. I'm not sure how the vendor makes any money on this!! For my needs, it was perfect! My monitor requires a 3.5mm stereo input and I all I had were 2 RCA cables (connecting from a Wii). This did the trick and connection was obviously very simple. THANKS AMAZON!

when i got this, both the plug in spots were yellow not red and white like the picture which was not what i wanted. be carefull about that

This product works great!!! However, sometimes it's the smallest things that customers (especially a techy one) pay attention to! The RED and WHITE audio colors were NOT there! It was a dull yellow color on both RCA female ends. Not a big deal...but still. Buy if you don't mind this issue. ( Keep in mind that speakers give you sound location. Example: If you play a video game and someone comes up to you from your right side, you should hear footsteps or something on the RIGHT SPEAKER, which is were the color code comes into play) Thanks to someone who recently told me that this review should have the marketplace seller who sold this item, I can now say that the seller was Amamax. I have one set of speakers that I use for my computer and for my xbox360 (which is connected to my monitor). I plugged the adapter into my computer and through it connected the audio cables from the xbox360 to my computer. Works like a charm (on Windows 7; I don't know if any additional setup is required on other OSes).
