1.0 out of 5 stars Very suseptable to interference. Unreliable and Dangerous, January 9, 2007

I purchased this product to help keep my laptop secure. The product is very suseptible to interference and thus easily confused. I have walked away 25 to 30 feet and the device did not lock my system. I have been sitting at my desk typing away and the device has kicked in. The troubleshooting instructions tell you that it is may be receiving interference. I tried moving the lock around using a USB extension cable with no success. You may walk away from the system thinking it is going to lock and it does not. This can be dangerous. I strongly urge you to say away from this product until it is improved. I don't have this problem with other RF and Bluetooth devices.

I have the same complaints as the other people reviewing this product. It sometimes "locked" my computer when I was sitting near it. Sometimes I would walk away and it wouldn't lock the screen. The instructions are written so poorly that I wasn't sure I had configured it properly. The build quality of the pocket fob is cheap and the back panel that holds the watch battery in cracked. It's a great idea poorly executed.

I got this product and have been very disappointed with it. Not only does the software not work well, the hardware is not reliable. The included software does not issue a Windows lock command, rather it simply puts up a graphic. If one is using two monitors, it only places the graphic on the main screen, not on the secondary screen. This means that the computer is not really locked.

I then tried an open source solution that works much better and issues a real Windows lock command. However the range on the device is so bad that it kept locking even though I was at my computer and actively using it.

Save your money, learn to use the Windows-L command.
