Finally got it :)
After a long 2 day wait(kidding as I consider it fast from the states to Switzerland)..... I received the device.
At unpacking it turned out that there was no European plug attachment included but as my BBerry has one I will just skip charging it thing for now.

Connected the little receiver box. (Had to rip out my SatReceiver HDMI to save time looking for a spare cable but thats OK)
*HDMI cable not included but I have some somewhere in the house so that is OK.

At installation, there are two options of interest.
Install the software or download the latest drivers and install.

Of course I could not wait so installed the CD drivers and attached the USB adapter to my laptop.
Screen popped up in few seconds and looked perfectly fine.
No thinking required, worked like a charm.

I did notice though that there was an issue with the screen because whenever I typed or moved the mouse, the screen flashed. (Probably an interupt conflict somewhere)

A little dissapointed with this I downloaded the 50-ish updated drivers.
After download I found that there was a firmware upgrade in the driver pack for both USB adapter and receiver.
Upgrade and reinstall took approximately 2 minutes and fixed the flickering screen.

Even though the resolution 1280X720 is a little lower than I am used to as I run on 1900X1200, it is up to supplier specifications so this is fair enough.
*Note to self, connect HDMI to HDMI when playing SC-II or EVE.
UPDATE: Next day the screen duplicated so I had to set it back. Perhaps there has been an update because the resolution is now higher than spec. 1360X768!!!

I got this item to be able to play (720p) video on my PC on my HDTV and to use the HDTV as a second monitor. Unfortunately even with the latest drivers available on 3/16/2010 from DisplayLink and Cables Unlimited, I could still only get very choppy (720p) video to play on the HDTV (I tried changing the wireless channel and all possible settings for the multiple monitors, e.g. cloned, extend display, display only etc). TV and PC are about 20 feet apart but it appears that this item only works well if the two USB adapters have direct line of sight: the connection worsens when I sit down on the couch (which happens to be in between the PC and the TV). Additionally, the DisplayLink software (the display driver for the device) crashes Windows Explorer (on Windows 7) whenever I browse my "Videos" folder. This feels like a dated beta version of a product with limited usability (line of sight in an era where we have true wireless technology available).

I purchased this product primarily so I could wirelessly surf the web and view photos with others during gatherings on my flat panel. The idea was to avoid the usual set-up and prevent trampling over cables across the room. Unfortunately, the Cables Unlimited Wireless USB to HDMI and VGA Adapter with Audio did not perform as billed. According to the makers of this product, wireless connectivity should be good for up to 30 feet without problems. However, this is was not the case. I lost wireless connectivity on and off the whole time I tried using it. Also, you may notice a lag between the audio and video signal, which I found very disconcerting. Both of these issues are addressed in the owner's manual that is included in the software. But, the troubleshooting exercises suggested did not help-I tried everything. Even positioning my laptop no more than 12 feet away with a clear line of sight did not improve the signal. It is possible electrical interference that I am not aware of may have affected the reception in my case. The video and audio signal quality was fine (when i could get 'em). I would not recommend this product.

This a a handy device. I love being able to send audio and video to my HD tv. I had two die on me after only 1 or 2 days of use. I think they are over sensitive to power spikes or something. I unplug it now whenever not in use and haven't had any more issues. The exchange process was great and had the replacement within a day.

The usb adapter plastic casing actually came apart on one of them. It gets very hot and I think the glue came undone. The signal is line of site which can create problems. All in all it does what is was intended to do.

Our firm just added a second conference room. When we got a quote from the maintenance group for wiring to connect the display for $1,400. Our IT person came up with the idea of using this product.

We bought it and set it up and it works a treat. It is now much easier for Presenters in the conference room to pass control of the presentation from one laptop to another. The setup took 10 mins and the quality is indistinguishable from the wired setup we have next door. We downloaded the latest drivers from the website and have really found no limitations to date.

It also has a cool factor - clients that come in are very impressed when the presenter moves their laptop around and they see that it has no wires attached.
