Despite its great form factor and portability, I can't recommend this product. I got one and promptly wasted an entire night trying to make a FireWire connection between two notebook computers running Windows XP. Much effort was expended, in the end demonstrating that the cable was defective. An ordinary, nonretractable, much thicker 4-4 FireWire cable was purchased as a replacement the next day, and worked first try. The moral of the story: don't go light/flimsy on a cable that you need to get something to work!
