It is not like there are a lot of books on this topic written recently. This is a very useful and descriptive book on a topic that I wanted to learn about. Pictures are dated but still quite informative and there is a lot of interesting material to learn from it. I am very happy with my purchase.

This book on Cabochon Cutting is a great book for getting started in Lapidary cabochons, or for refreshing info to the more experienced. I highly recommend it to folks new and old to the hobby. It explains all the steps required to create a cabochon in good detail with great illustrations.

I found this book to be well worth the investment for a person like myself who I would characterize as a casual hobbyist. It gives you the ins and outs of 'cutting' a stone into a cabochon. I would call it more of a pamphlet than a book for its softback printing. It comes in handy when reviewing parts of the process, the color photos help as well. The photos seem a bit dated, but this process is the same, as when electricity hit the cutting machines, or even further back than that! Simple enough for me to understand and utilize in the process.
