This item was bought as a birthday present for my 8 year old nephew and it was a big hit. The instructional CD is exactly what's needed to help the younger children learn how to perform the tricks!

I bought this for my 10 year old son. He can do many of the tricks very well. The dvd is great for teaching. I only give 4 out of 5 stars because the tricks on the video are the easy ones and only about 10 of them, the other 90 tricks are in book format and alot harder to perform. The quality is great.

My 12 year old son is very interested in learning and performing magic tricks. He googles magician web sites that show instructional videos on how to master tricks, mostly with cards. Honestly, these web sites are for adults as well teenagers and he is able,to my surprise for his age, master many of them. I was worried this would be a bit young, but I found him to really enjoy it. He didn't stop playing with it until he mastered every trick and did it a few times over, 3 days worth maybe. If he was younger, I imagine it would have longer lasting power and if he were an organized person he would be able to use them again, but there are many parts and they become scattered everywhere from his tree fort to his pants pockets in the laundry. Overall, for the money and the enjoyment it gave at his level, I would buy it again.

This set comes with various tricks and supplies that are easy for my 11 yr old to follow. Is a good kit for the beginner who's interested or intrigued by magic. Has a couple of items that are really cool. I would say great for kids 10 and up..

This magic set has what any good magic set should: a full set of easy, simple and well-presented tricks. Beware of magic sets that are too "showy"---they usually contain a bunch of toy gimmicks that anyone can see through and lose their appeal quickly. This set has two classic tricks, the "Peter Rabbit" sponge bunny trick and the "Cups and balls" trick, both of which are simple and fun. The rest are well-designed, true magician's tricks that utilize props rather than toys. That is important, because they teach the two most valuable assets to a magician: showmanship and sleight-of-hand.
Because the set inherently teaches those two things, a full book of tricks is included to expand on the principles the set demonstrates. While a lot of the tricks in the book aren't covered in the set's props, they use easy to get household items, with a few exceptions such as magician's wax. But between the props and the book, any magician, from beginner to amateur, will gain something from this set. I recommend it for ages 9 and up, for the patience required for the learning process.

We bought this toy for our 7-year-old son because we were trying to find an alternative to video games, legos, rescue heros, etc. This fit the bill perfectly.
It is a basic magic kit complete with magic wand, props and both written and video instructions. The items themselves are not fragile but should be kept from younger brothers and sisters who could easily destroy them or lose the pieces. The DVD is key to having younger kids understand the tricks. The guy on the video is clear about how to do the tricks and it was much easier for my son to do the tricks once he had seen them on the video. He tried using the written instructions but definitely needed adult help with those. This is a great toy for developing some critical thinking skills and bringing out some early public speaking skills. We have had it for a week now and he has used it 3-4 times. I think over time it may be something that he pulls out once a month. Overall it was a great price to try something different than the usual.

My daughter was showing interest in doing magic tricks. We got her this for Christmas and she loves it. The DVD that comes with it had her doing tricks within 30 minutes of opening the box. The tricks are pretty good, It's fun to watch her put on a show.
I wish the durability was better, but all toys seem to be cheap junk now. Overall, it will work for it's intended purchase. It just won't be something that will be passed down to younger siblings or anything, I don't think it will last that long.

This was a great gift for those interested in doing magic tricks. Most of it was for a child over the age of 10. My grandson's hands were still too small to preform many of the slight of hand tricks.

It was a Christmas gift for my grandson in the 4th grade. At first he was unsure and then as he examined the magic set he became more and more excited and plans to put on a magic show.

The quality is not what I expected. It looks cheap and I regret buying it although I hope the little boy I gave it to, will enjoy it.
