I bought this book expecting beautiful photos of my one of my favorite places on earth, Cades Cove. I certainly was not disappointed. The photos are masterfully taken with great sense of proportion and composition. The beauty of the mountains and this special valley shine through. The photographer's love for his subject is obvious. What a pleasant surprise to find so much interesting and informative narrative on the people and history of the Cove. I learned so much and will treasure this book for many years. Thank you, Bill Lea.

Bill Lea is a quiet person. You'd never know it without seeing his work, but he is probably the top professional photographer in the Smokies over the last 20 years.

His nature photography will amaze you. The intimacy of the photographs reveals a personal side of wildlife. His understanding of animal behavior helps to deliver great photographs and an emotional connection.

Bill is a master of understanding lighting in the landscape, and his images provide a perspective only achieved with many days of photography and a deep understanding of light. I've spent more than 50 days over the past two years photographing the Smokies, and this is a book that I bought for the wonderful images. The text provides interesting reading about the history of Cades Cove and the people who lived there.

I bought this book as a Christmas present for my Dad and he absolutely loved it. I have had the chance to visit Cade's Cove a handful of times in my life and it is truly a natural treasure and the photography that Bill Lea expresses in this book truly does the area justice. If you are a previous vistior of Cade's Cove and have witnessed its' beauty you will be greatly appreciative of this book with the photography coupled with narratives on the area photographed. Very highly recommended.

Cades Cove is my favorite place to get away from the daily grind and clear my mind. When I saw this book at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park visitors center, I knew I had to have it. From the first glance at a random page I saw the stunning detailed photographs taken by a serious wildlife photographer. This author/photographer knows how to take pictures!

This book is as close to being in the real life Cades Cove as you can get. The wildlife, the old cabins and barns, the fields, right down to the leaves falling off the trees, if you have ever been there, you will feel like you are back as you look at the photos and read the text that accompanies it. I was lucky enough to catch Bill Lea when he was at a book signing in Townsend, Tennessee a couple years ago and purchased a couple personal autographed copies.

Thank you Bill for such an outstanding book! (When can we expect another one?!!!)

I first checked out this book in a public library and quickly decided I want to own it. I also gave this book as a gift to people who, just like me, love and cherish beautiful Cades Cove. Not only are the pictures outstanding and very inspiring, but there is so much interesting information included, that I look at Cades Cove completely different today. And after looking at some of my own pictures from different events in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, I even discovered that we had been at the same places at the very same time. Now I even know the name of the nice gentleman I had seen taking pictures at several occasions! I can highly recommend Bill Leas book/s - you won't be disappointed!

If you are going to the Smokies, or have been to the Smokies, or want to see what the park has to offer you must have this book. It's a fantastic book to read, reread and then put on the coffee table for your visitors and family to read.
The art is second to none. The moods, the expression and the beauty are just overwhelming. How the artist captured these are truly mind boggling. You could go a thousand times and not see the unbelievable scenes he has captured in his camera.
I just can't find the superlatives to actually describe this book....so see for yourself.

I have been to the Cove to photograph several times during various seasons. It offers so much for the person who is willing to just enjoy the beauty of the place at a leisurely pace.

Bill Lea's book provides a "vacation" to the Cove in great photos. There are some great historical pieces included as well. He is one who truly knows this place and can provide the intimate details that bring it back to life. Of course, his photos in these books and his calendars are wonderful.
