I ordered from Rawhide Direct. Product arrived in a timely manner, in new condition and as described. This is a nice really heavy duty coiled tie out cable. The vinyl cover is thick and the swivel clips appear sturdy. I don't know yet whether they will rust, but I expect to get at least a year or two out of this cable. I purchased this as a replacement for one I bought at Target a few years ago (the vinyl eventually gets worn, cracks and falls off, then the steel will start to rust and eventually break). This one seems much beefier than the one from Target, but for this very reasonable price, it won't bother me to buy replacements.

I use this as the down line for my dog's Cider Mill brand trolley system. Though trolley systems come with a down line, it is just a straight cable, and they are, IMO, not safe, they get wrapped around body parts. This coiled, tangle free, tie out, is the perfect solution. I don't have to worry about my dog breaking a leg, strangling himself or injuring a person.

This tie out was a good idea that doesn't work as well as expected. We bought 3 of them and went through them all very quickly. Here's what we experienced with this product:

- they eventually do tangle, on themselves, like an old "Slinky" toy
- the coating on the cable is not durable and will fall off after a few days, exposing rough steel cable and sharp breaks in the wires to abrade your pet's legs, doorways, hands, etc.
- smaller dogs aren't strong enough to extend this tie-out anywhere close to full length
- they do wrap around your pet's legs and/or body. We had to untangle our 13-pound Pug-Chihuahua regularly. He just wasn't big or strong enough to break free if he became tangled in the knot-like coils
- if you intend to hook up two dogs in any way where these tie-outs will cross paths, or from one lash point (which isn't an issue with straight cable tie-outs), your pets will become hopelessly tangled together, and separating the two coiled tie-outs isn't pleasant. In other words, this is a one dog solution if you can deal with the other issues mentioned above

There are some positives to this tie-out:

- it is very strong
- it doesn't tangle when newer
- it works reasonably well for larger dogs
- it‘s easy to pack and take places because it naturally wants to assume a coiled, compact shape

Given the pro's and con's, I think this would work best for someone with one, larger dog looking for a tie-out that can be taken to a park and won't be left out to decay the coating, but these didn't work for us.

This is the best design for my dog run. It doesn't get tangled or caught, and I cannot find them in the stores anymore. I usually buy several at a time because if they are left outside on a pulley run, the cable at the end weathers and eventually gets weak and will break, but they are inexpensive and worth replacing. Allows my Westie to roam the yard and has play when she get towards the end of its reach like a bungie cord. Recommended product.

We bought two of these tie outs for our two aussies for when we go camping. We try to place them far enough apart that the two dogs won't cross over each other and make a mess of things. These tie outs are long enough to give them room to move about and yet spring back into shape when not being stretched. There has been very little tangling-what we were aiming for.

I bought this to replace one from a different company that wore out in just a few months. This one seems to be superior. *Note* The term "tie out" is probably a little misleading since you really can't use this with a stake in the ground type anchor. These are for trolley type situations where the cable is suspended from above the dog. It works great for us.

We keep our dogs on runners in the trees. The coiled tie out allows them to stay tangle-free and safe. The cold Alaska winters are pretty hard on the plastic which covers it, so we have to use about 3-4 per year. It is still much better than a straight tie out.

I was happy to find this product finally after seeing it at a friend's house. I bought it to replace a lead on a trolly system for my dog which was constantly getting tangled. It has worked great with regard to elliminating the tangling issue, but I feel its a little too short overall. Like all coiled products (hoses, etc.) you lose quite a bit of length in the process. I wish it were a 12' coiled product. That would make a 5 star product in my opinion.

Works great for my Collie dog. She has no problem pulling it out. I attached it to a high run with a short chain hanging off that positioning the tie out so that on most of her run she is able to stand without the tie out pulling on her harness. She can and does however pull it out to length to check things out. Keeping the end of it level with her back also keeps her from getting tangled.
