Incredible CD-ROM with everything you could posibly want to know about the 1950 to 1969 cadillacs. Hundreds of high-res photos. It even has TV commercials and sound effects. The screen saver is worth the price alone! I also have other titles from this author which I also love!

I love Cadillacs, especially the years up to 1973. I have collected literature and photos over the years. I thought that this might be a good addition to my collection, but was mistaken.

A number of the photos are not labled correctly, pictures are grainy or have poor resolution, and there is no consistancy to any of the presentation. I have a better collection myself by just scanning brochures and ads from magazines like NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC.

For all the effort and the price, I expected a much higher quality.

This is a basic and simple offering, but it delivers what it promises, and does so extremely well.

The centrepiece is undoubtedly the collection of still photo's, and these are just beautiful. I recently tried explaining to a friend why I love them, but it wasn't easy. Her immediate response was "You must love nostalgia"; to which I responded "If I told you I loved the Mona Lisa, would you say the same thing"?

These cars go beyond just nostalgia. They are glorious pieces of industrial design, genuine works of art as truly and completely as any painting. There are real ideas, feelings, and aspirations expressed in these joyous sculptures of steel. The ideas may not be especially deep, but they are fun. And why shouldn't they be? Is The Magic Flute a lesser work than Hamlet? I'll let you be the judge.

In fact, some of these cars (particularly those from 1959-60) are almost like children's toys. But then, that's a big part of their charm. Indeed, to be perfectly honest, those are the cars I love the most. Sleek yet baroque fantasies of pure futurism, they make the Cadillacs of today seem like bland and boring boxes by comparison. My great regret is that I can't go out and buy the Cadillac Cyclone: a concept car from 1959 that was never put into production.

The collection of still photos is also complemented by some nice extras, such as old Cadillac commercials from the same epoch. Another nice touch is that the CD-ROM allows you to install the program in its entirety so you don't have to keep the CD in your disk drive, which is convenient.

But I do have two minor gripes. First, while the images are organized by year, the photo's don't otherwise come with any more specific information on which model you are looking at. I consider this a fairly glaring omission. Second, it would be nice to run this program in full screen mode, which as far as I can figure out is not possible.

Overall, I'd recommend this disk to any fan of American cars of this era. It's true that you can find the same (or similar) stuff on the internet for free, but this program is just a fun thing to have access to right on your desktop. And it's not like they're charging an arm and a leg for it.

thought i was buying a book ( i guess i was to excited to find something for my husband finally, and didn't read the description) It ended up being a CD rom when it arrived..I was concerned that he wouldn't enjoy it as much as i had hoped, but Christmas morning came, it ' looked' like it might be good.. We tried to get it to download for a couple of days :D in the end i was able to get it to work. My husband seems to think it is ' ok', not the ' wow this is great' i was looking for, but he has taken the time to look through the whole thing, so It must be good right? Looks good to me :D

Good but not complete. The tec specs could be more comprehensive. Above all the picture and movie resolutions shuld be as high as to to allow to use as screensavers on modern big screens. Does not work with a mac unless you pick it apart on a PC, transfer it and watch with mac programs.

I found that this was a good overview of the Cadillac models and styles. Some of the Advertisements were a little grainy and some pictures not well defined, but overall it was well presented.
