Book Description

January 1, 2009
Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis, the first installment in the "Of Kings And Gods" Trilogy, is a classically Ancient Greek tale that explores the, sometimes complex, battle between love and pride. Told in a way that harks back to the Iliad and Odyssey, the lives of mortals become intertwined with those of the Gods. The result is a fast-paced journey throughout the Aegean and to The Underworld, from a no-holds-barred competition to a wedding, in which some of the characters turn out to not be who you expect.

As the annual Festival of the Sun in Corinth approaches, Apollo's Tournament takes center stage, cloaking high stakes for a select few among its throngs of competitors and spectators. Caenus, the unaccomplished prince of Iolkos, expects to confirm to himself, and prove to his father, his worthiness to command the military. In crossing swords with Makedon, the powerful, and ruthless, young prince from Neapolis, the two are joined on a criss-crossing path that links their destinies far beyond Corinth, drawing in those they hold closest: chief among them, Adriande a beautiful and elusive young woman who captures Caenus' heart then mysteriously disappears the night before the tournament's decisive event, only to reappear later as Makedon's bride-to-be.

Disappointed after losing the tournament, Caenus redoubles his training efforts, seeking out mentorship from Kheiron, the legendary centaur. During Caenus' journey of self-discovery, with hot blood having had a chance to cool, the Iolkosian royal family is invited to Makedon's wedding. Caenus attends the wedding ceremonies only to be blindsided by news he never could have seen coming, thrusting him into a fight for more than just his own life. The two princes, who had exited the earlier competition as bitter adversaries, become propelled by the arrogance of Makedon toward an unexpected, personal challenge and re-match.

With Caenus and Makedon both having apparently received aid from the Gods, the fight for pride and love is intense; resulting in three people struggling for their lives, including the girl they are fighting for. It is Caenus' strength of love that serves him best, but also sends him to his darkest challenge yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mythology comes to life:, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis (Of Kings And Gods: Book 1) (Paperback)
The details in Caenus and the Quiver of Artemis were so realistic I was able to get wrapped up in the characters as if I was living their ancient mythical lives.
Mythology has never been my favorite genre, but after reading this book by first time author, Christopher Ledbetter, I have changed my mind. I can't wait for the 2nd book.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Love, May 29, 2009
This review is from: Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis (Of Kings And Gods: Book 1) (Paperback)
With undeniable certainty, I can and will say, I have come to find a truly amazing attachment to the characters' Caenus and Kalliste. The struggles Caenus must face to be with his true love are going to be more than rewarded by not only the Gods, but by the closing of the circle so to speak. Chris Ledbetter's passion is well pronounced in his characters and he has quite the knack for using his knowledge of Ancient Greece and the Gods to form a blissful union of fate, destiny, love and his passion as he allows Caenus to use each to push himself through his struggles to attain and fulfill his purpose. Are you kidding me right now people? YOU HAVE TO READ THIS INCREDIBLE BOOK!!! The best part about this is there is much more to come!!!!
