5.0 out of 5 stars Mythology comes to life:
The details in Caenus and the Quiver of Artemis were so realistic I was able to get wrapped up in the characters as if I was living their ancient mythical lives.
Mythology has never been my favorite genre, but after reading this book by first time author, Christopher Ledbetter, I have changed my mind. I can't wait for the 2nd book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reads as if it's self-published
I felt like this book was an outline for something hopefully bigger and better. It's not that the premise of the book was bad but the writing was very amateurish and it should have been checked for simple grammatical errors. It seemed as though I was reading a story written by a teenager. I would have liked to have seen some of the scenes extended beyond a single page. I...

5.0 out of 5 stars True Love, May 29, 2009
This review is from: Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis (Of Kings And Gods: Book 1) (Paperback)
With undeniable certainty, I can and will say, I have come to find a truly amazing attachment to the characters' Caenus and Kalliste. The struggles Caenus must face to be with his true love are going to be more than rewarded by not only the Gods, but by the closing of the circle so to speak. Chris Ledbetter's passion is well pronounced in his characters and he has quite the knack for using his knowledge of Ancient Greece and the Gods to form a blissful union of fate, destiny, love and his passion as he allows Caenus to use each to push himself through his struggles to attain and fulfill his purpose. Are you kidding me right now people? YOU HAVE TO READ THIS INCREDIBLE BOOK!!! The best part about this is there is much more to come!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine fantasy sure to give fans of classical mythology something to enjoy, May 7, 2009
This review is from: Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis (Of Kings And Gods: Book 1) (Paperback)
Love is a powerful value to some, but can it be the most powerful? "Caenus and the Quiver of Artemis" follows Prince Caenus as he falls for a beautiful peasant woman, in a story set in Ancient Greece. But a ruthless fellow Prince will create trouble for him; Caenus is viewed as a crazy man as he encounters the gods and demons. He will do anything just for a peasant. "Caenus and the Quiver of Artemis" is a fine fantasy sure to give fans of classical mythology something to enjoy.

It seemed as though I was reading a story written by a teenager. I would have liked to have seen some of the scenes extended beyond a single page. I really was looking forward to a book where the gods of ancient Greece and man interact in a hero's journey but this really just fell flat. I would actually recommend the Percy Jackson series (a series written for teens) before I would recommend this, not that those books are great literature. I was hoping this series would be something an adult could read, but unfortunately it's just not flushed out enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Adventure into Ancient Events, February 8, 2009
This review is from: Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis (Of Kings And Gods: Book 1) (Paperback)
It's a suspenseful and wonderful adventure into ancient belief systems and self-determination at war with fate. In following Caenus and his decisions and actions, not until the very end do we know the full consequences of trust, betrayal, overwhelming odds, and interference by the gods. Finding out is worth every page that leads the reader there.

I have always been a big fan of Greek Mythology. That was one of the reasons why I decided to read this book. I got involved in the story from the beginning. The plot was very good and it has a lot of suspense. Besides, I liked the relationship between humans and gods. I think the author did an awesome job. I really enjoyed the story. I can't wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Caenus and the Quiver of Artemis, January 9, 2009
This review is from: Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis (Of Kings And Gods: Book 1) (Paperback)
Remarkable! For a first-time author, Christopher S. Ledbetter brilliantly captures in words his imaginative story of "Caenus", as well as, bringing to life another example of early Greek history with exhilarating fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fate & Destiny, February 21, 2010
This review is from: Caenus and The Quiver of Artemis (Of Kings And Gods: Book 1) (Paperback)
CAENUS AND THE QUIVER OF ARTEMIS is a mythological tale. The story begins with King Kranos of Iolkos wanting his son, Prince Caenus, to oversee military operations. Unfortunately, King Kranos does not think Caenus is ready yet to take on such a huge responsibility. On Prince Caenus' eighteenth birthday, he makes a declaration to his father that he desires to compete in Apollo's tournament, a yearly gathering where men, usually noble princes, ages 18-25 compete against one another to prove their worthiness or a certain rite of passage, so to speak.

Kalliste is the daughter of King Dimitri of Samos. Legend tells that Kalliste is really the daughter of Zeus and King Dimitri is just her mortal father. King Dimitri has arranged for Kalliste to be married to Makedon, Prince of Neapolis. Kalliste debates whether to flee home and find a love of her own, because she detests the arrangement of marriage. She is determined to get out of the arranged marriage one way or another.

CAENUS AND THE QUIVER OF ARTEMIS by Christopher S. Ledbetter was a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Mr. Ledbetter did an excellent job in weaving together a folkloric tale with a fabled tale of fantasy. This was a tale of a couple that was destined to be together, but there are many hurdles they must overcome in order to be together; even if it means facing death head on. How far is one willing to go for love? Recommended for those readers that enjoy a good mythical tale!
