Granted that this book is no walk-through nor is as detailed as some on-line posts, some of us who don't have time to wade through newsgroup archives will find it valuable. Its strength lies in its organization. Reading the mission descriptions and the third chapter will give a sense of city design. The description of the structires is more accessible than the manual's tables. It's very handy as a quick reference and has given me several "Afa! So that's how it works" insights that saved me alot of time.

However, it MUST be used in conjunction with the manual. Some options, such as Trade Center, are easier to find in the manual.

A good buy for the gamer with limited time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems to have been written before the game was released., February 4, 1999

This book seems to have been written well before the game was released. They make numerous references to fire prevention, which should have been changed to Prefectures. Overall, the book is good, but minor things like that drag the star rating down a little.

2.0 out of 5 stars I am disapointed at the detailed strategy suggestions, November 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Caesar III: Prima's Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
I just got the guide and have looked through the book as it pertains to comments on how to advance your career. I have been active on several of the on-line discussion groups. Most people are looking for more comprehensive instructions on how to best design cities in the different city assignments. This guide is certainly not going to guarantee that someone will work through all the issues they will face to win at these cities. I would recommend people look at the on-line forums by Sierra or Impressions to get more helpful suggestions on the more difficult assignments. Some more maps and illustrations on building designs to support different types of housing would also have been appreciated. It is not a completely useless book, but I was definitely underwelmed.
