About the Author

John Lilton is an exciting new author who brings action, grit and gut-wrenching drama to the reading world. His first book, A Second to Die, of the Caesar Slaughter trilogy, is loosly based upon his life experiences. Although Lilton never considered his life anything other than normal, many of the people who knew him encouraged him to write and share his story with the world because no one would believe anyone actually lived that way. Lilton began writing the Caesar Slaughter trilogy while incarcerated.

3.0 out of 5 stars Who's the Man?, August 11, 2008
By
The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Caesar Slaughter: A Second to Die (Paperback)
Caesar Slaughter has spent five years in prison because a friend betrayed him. That friend, Fred Turner, has operated under the assumed identity of a tough drug-running Jamaican named Rasta-Man and has built an empire in the drug trade in Richmond, Virginia. Now that Caesar is out of prison, he has revenge on his mind and he puts his heritage as a Comanche warrior and his training as a killing machine for the military into full use.

When his nephew is killed because of drugs, Caesar's mission becomes two-fold, as he tries to pry away the grip of drugs from Richmond. He sees the effects of drugs on his family, the community and others around him. The lure of drugs and the money made from it, have some close to him thinking they can get the upper hand, but they soon find out besting Caesar is next to impossible. Even local law enforcement will find themselves moving out of the way as Caesar and his crew puts a dent in the drug trade.

In CAESAR SLAUGHTER: A Second to Die, John Lilton takes readers on a gut-wrenching journey of right-fighting through the eyes of a killer with the skills and the motivation to exterminate human life. When his ultimate aim turns to not just revenge but in his own way, ridding the community of a serious blight, you feel his raw energy and passion as you pray for those who get in his way. As the first in the Caesar Slaughter trilogy, this book could use more tightening in the editing department, as well as some additional character development work. Many of the scenes were grisly and not for the faint of heart. In all, I am looking forward to knowing what Caesar's next move will be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Reformed Author, July 30, 2008
This review is from: Caesar Slaughter: A Second to Die (Paperback)
Caesar is a character that you do not want to cross. He is a cross between Frank Lucas and Scarface. This book depicts what happens when you cross him and the people that he love. This book is part of a trilogy and the author does an exceptional job of keeping you at the edge of your seats waiting for the next release. A must have for urban fiction readers.

The book was great but the author is EXCELLENT. Had the pleasure of hearing the author's speech at a community event about achieving your dreams that was breathtaking. Back to the book- read it in one day. Very easy to read, fast paced book.

4.0 out of 5 stars (3.5 stars) Give Your Soul to God, May 7, 2008
This review is from: Caesar Slaughter: A Second to Die (Paperback)
Caesar Slaughter is not one to play with. Brought up under Comanche beliefs to be a warrior at all times, Caesar joins the military after his Great Grandfather Samuel Slaughter. With revenge against his once long time friend Fred Turner a.k.a. Rasta-man on his mind, Caesar plans to hit every mill he owns until Rasta-man shows his face.

With the unexpected death of his nephew, Caesar and his crew head back home to Richmond, VA with murder on their minds. With a plan to take out the most notorious drug dealer in all of Richmond, Caesar comes up with a plan to kill two birds with one stone.

Executing his plan has one bird down and one to go with another opportunity for readers to get into the minds and lives of natural born killers. One rule that Caesar lives by is that it's okay to bring a knife to a gun fight; if you have any common sense, you will duck before the knife leaves his hands.

I wouldn't call Caesar Slaughter the Robin Hood of the ghetto. He wasn't stealing from the rich to give to the poor...he was stealing from the rich to stop taking from the poor. I felt Mr. Lilton could have added a bit more of Caesar's Comanche heritage to the story. There where a few chapters that left unanswered questions. I look forward to reading the follow-up to Caesar Alexander: A Second To Die...just to see how the drama unfolds.
