3.0 out of 5 stars A standard gambling game on the PS1 with so-so controls, April 27, 2011

This gambling game had potential but the shortcomings eventually outweigh the positives. For example with other Casino games you just press the 'max bet' button(for Slot Machines) and credit is automatically deducted from your total. Here you need to painstakingly add a coin at a time until you reach your desired total. Whatever you win is added to your 'paid' section and you must then re-add the coins. This whole process is unintuitive and slows down the gameplay.

Another annoying thing is that you cannot switch to another slot machine from the one you are playing. You must exit to the 'lobby' and then reload the slot machines. This process is timely and might disuade someone from wanting to play another machine. Also each time you win something in Slots, the screen scrolls to the upper portion of the slot machine to light up what you've won instead of just showing the amount on a small digital readout.

When playing any of the non-slot games, I recommend turning off the 'ToolTips' as there is an annoying little pop-up each time you make a move to tell you what you did wrong; of course if you are unfamiliar with any of these games then the pop-up tips might be useful. There is some loading time each time you pick a new game or return to the 'lobby'. For Blackjack you can pick between 2-6 deck of cards. If you turn off the animation, the card game will move a little quicker.

For games such as Blackjack, Keno, and Craps you here a dealer's voice calling the action and telling you what to do. The graphics are sprite-based and features plenty of digitized images of card tables. There is old 60's style lounge music here and there along with the mumbling of crowd noise. The game comes in a double-disc case even though there's only 1 CD. Overall this is a solid but unspectacular gambling game featuring the standard fare of casino games that tends to get bogged down by unintuitive controls.
