I like dark roasted coffees, but the price of most of the ones that I have ordered in the past have gone through the roof, so I decided to give Cafe Caribe a try. The first thing I learned, using a drip maker, was to back off on the amount in the brewing basket; my first cup was a little jolting. It took a little experimenting, but I have to say that I've made peace with this coffee and I will purchase it again. It's economical and I prefer the bricks to wasteful cans or plastic containers. The flavor is very close to Puerto Rican coffee I have had made by friends, and I have come to enjoy it. If you like dark coffee, I would certain recommend giving this brand a try; just be aware that you may need to adjust the amount of coffee in the basket to your taste.

While I don't think Cafe Caribe is as bad as some make it out to be, especially for the price, don't buy this as an "espresso coffee." The grind of Caribe is not a fine espresso grind, but is closer to a medium grind. While that is fine for a standard drip coffeemaker (the best way to use this, IMHO), using it in a moka pot, while possible, didn't result in a particularly good espresso compared to the espresso-ground coffees I had used previously (Lavazza, Bustelo or Pilon). One of the bags received had obviously lost the vaccuum and was noticeably stale as well, although the rest were in good shape and tasted fine. I don't want to give Cafe Caribe a bad rap, because for the price, it tastes pretty good (I will buy it again to use as a day-to-day coffee), but at the same time, it helps to know what you're buying.

I've been buying bricks of the espresso coffee that comes in the yellow, black, and red foil for many years. I bought 12 bricks of this coffee for half the cost of the other and found it to be excellent! I'm ordering it again because it was so good. No need to get great coffee from Starbucks or pay unneccessarily high prices for a good cup of joe!

I found this coffee in my local supermarket and I felt in love with it. It tastes very similar to Puerto Rican coffee, that is excellent. It only costs $2.99 in HEB.

Cheap, but tastes better than any other main stream brand (I'm looking at you folgers/maxwell house/other).. And I think it tastes at least as good as cafe bustelo. Wouldn't hesitate to get again (bought several of these at once and am now swimming in coffee)

I bought this coffee to use in the insert for my Keurig coffee maker. This is very finely ground coffee with full a smooth, full, rich flavor and no bitterness whatsoever. I like strong coffee and always drink it black. The coffee turned out to be messy using it in the Keurig insert so I reverted to using it in my regular coffee pot and it is even better that way. If you like robust, smooth flavor you won't be disappointed with this Expresso coffee.

I get this coffee at my regular grocery store where it goes on sale every month for $1.99 per brick. If you have a Latino grocer in your area you can often find it for even less. $2.50 per brick is not that great a price, especially when you're buying a whole case at a time.

I've never brewed this stuff as espresso. I use it as regular coffee, and it makes a nice rich low acid cup. That's all I ask from it, so I'm happy. I make just enough for us in the morning, so I'm not concerned whether this coffee can stay fresh in the pot after hours and hours.

It's great coffee, and it's the least expensive stuff on the market. That's tough to beat.

I first discovered Cafe Caribe in a discount grocery store and bought it for the cheap price. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is made for dark coffee lovers like myself. I like my cup of coffee to have a jolt to it, and usually must use a generous amount of coffee. I soon learned that a little goes a long way with this stuff. It is delicious black, or with your favorite creamer. The ground is fairly fine, so you get the most from your brew.
