Here's the thing: Nespresso rips you off on its Web site, selling you its "official" pods at an insanely high price. The Nespresso pods, however, produce pretty good espresso, just a shade, in my opinion, below Starbucks on a good day. They also work seamlessly with the Nespresso machines, as you'd expect. When I bought cheap Ethical Coffee Company compatible pods, the things got stuck in my machine all the time (and they tasted watery next to the Nespresso pods). But here's the punch line: the "insanely high price" of the Nespresso pods, purchased directly from the Nespresso site, is about 60 cents per pod, including 2-day shipping. The third-party compatible pods sold here, on Amazon, cost even *more*!! When Nespresso's patents run out, there's no reason that the market shouldn't be flooded with third-party pods costing 10-20 cents each. But until then, and unless the pods sold here are far superior to Nespresso's pods -- which would surprise the heck out of me -- I think we have no choice but to buy direct from Nespresso at its crazy high prices. By the way, Ethical no longer sells pods in this country, although it seems intent on restoring US distribution in the middle of 2013. They can be imported from Canada now, but again, the current price of Ethical pods has risen above that of "true" Nespresso pods. IS THERE NO ONE WHO WILL SELL THESE PODS AT A FAIR PRICE??
I was hesitant to purchase this because of past review, but I figured at the price it wouldn't be a big loss if I didn't like it. I tried this and was expecting it to just be an okay replacement for when I would be out of nespresso pods. I was wrong, it tasted great to me. I will definitely buy more of these. The price is great and it tasted great out of my nespresso machine. It had similar crema on top after brewing as my nespresso pods. This one has an intense flavor. I highly recommend.
