Book Description

April 2000
Coffee is more than the beverage of choice for office-bound commuters and coffeehouse hipsters-it has been used for centuries by mystics of many cultures to heighten the senses, sharpen mental acuity, and promote creative and intuitive thought. This book presents a coffee divining method that is based on the historical use of coffee as an insight tool but is updated to make it more relevant to contemporary life. More than just a dry history of using coffee as a catalyst for intuition, this book is filled with fascinating coffee lore, recipes for delicious magic coffee potions, and an analysis of coffee's impact on cultures around the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee Lovers Unite!, December 23, 2001
By
This review is from: Cafi Nation: Coffee Folklore, Magick, and Divination (Paperback)
I am a coffee addict. I admit it. But Ms Posey has got me beat hands down.

This book covers the history of coffee. From the myths and legends surrounding coffee, to the different types of coffee, this release is similar to many other coffee books. There are even some wonderful recipes for distinctive coffee brews. Yet how many of these other books cover coffee divination? This is quite unique. There are instances in myth where coffee is used as a divination tool, but Ms. Posey introduces us to her version of scrying the beans.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. She presents us with her own original material and gives us a new twist on the magic of coffee.

If you are a coffee fanatic, or into different typs of divination, take a look at this book. It will grab you and make you rethink tea leaves. It would make a wonderful gift for that special coffee lover.

While you're at it, take a look at the website for Cafe Nation,... The site offers much more there than just a cup of coffee and a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm you didn't sprinkle coffee on the pages did you?, January 28, 2001

This was such an amazing book that I read it all in one sitting. It was addictive....or could that just be because it was all about coffee? Whatever the reason, Sandra Posey has written a wonderful book, complete with the history of coffee and it's myths to the more modern coffee delights...chocolate covered coffee beans anyone? I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in coffee or divination. Hmmm...now where did I put that coffee pot.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of "Cafe Nation", October 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Cafi Nation: Coffee Folklore, Magick, and Divination (Paperback)
Cafe nation is enormous fun, but it is much, much more. The history of coffee divination is thoroughly researched, and I found the tidbits of coffee lore a fascinating read (as I sipped my morning coffee!) There are explanations for a wonderful ritual using coffee magic, and some really great coffee spells for divination, healing, prosperity, and so on. One of my favorite things in this book is a very unique system of divination that the author calls "The Cafe Nation System." In fact, I can't wait to cast those beans! I also learned some details about professional coffee scents such as "earth, pepper, and smoke." All in all, as a coffee lover, this book is a treat!
