5.0 out of 5 stars vhs
who ever said this was a looser and not funny didn't get the story line at all. yes it was funny but the fact is that someone would do what ever it takes to save the one they loves club even if they have to marry a girl to do it shows a very stong love between two people.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible disgrace to the two classics...
If you are like me and feel that La Cage Aux Folles and its sequel are hillarious films, then do not see this. It is a complete disgrace and dishonor to the series. 1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible disgrace to the two classics..., May 4, 2003

If you are like me and feel that La Cage Aux Folles and its sequel are hillarious films, then do not see this. It is a complete disgrace and dishonor to the series. One of the principal screenwriters and creative mind behind the first 2 films, Francis Veber, is gone. And so is any charm, whimsy and any trace of comedy. This film is just flat out NOT FUNNY. Personally, I like Part 2 the best, with the original close behind. Ugo Tonazzi and Michel Serrault are on autopilot here and seem to be sleepwalking through their roles. The dubbing is atrocious and completely ruins an already lifeless film. The reason I think so many of us fell in love with the original was the complicated, sweet, and always humourous relationship between Albin and Renato. And also the dialogue was whip-smart and the situations, while often violent and serious, are always played with a layer of humor and human warmth. All fans should just consider the La Cage Aux Folles films a double set...NOT a trilogy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Fooled!, June 18, 1998
This review is from: La Cage Aux Folles 3 - The Wedding [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The original LA CAGE is a comic gem, and the first sequel was still somewhat amusing. If you loved them (as I did), you should probably stay away from this dreadful creature. The original leads return, as do their hated in-laws, but the wit and magic are gone. Albin and Renato become silly cartoonish figures, with none of the humanity that make these characters so memorable in the earlier films. So don't be fooled -- any resemblance between this film and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES is strictly in the eye of the producer. END

3.0 out of 5 stars An unappreciated sequal, April 17, 2000
This review is from: La Cage Aux Folles 3 - The Wedding [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have to disagree with the negative review(s) this movie has received. While it's not a great sequal, by any standards, it is still funny, entertaining, and enjoyable. I loved the other two La Cage films, and this one is a close second. The only really bad feature of the movie is the atrocious dubbing. I think it would play much better had it remained in its original Italian language format, with subtitles. (Though, I've never seen a copy of it with subtitles -- If anyone knows where I can get one, let me know.) Michel Serrault's classic character is great fun, as always, with his over-the-top effeminate persona. Ugo Tognazzi is also at his usual best, especially when he "plays it straight". This is a generally good and funny movie with undeserved bad reviews.

3.0 out of 5 stars "La Cage Aux Folles III The Wedding", Another Perspective., January 26, 2009
This review is from: La Cage Aux Folles 3 - The Wedding [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"La Cage Aux Folles III The Wedding" is the kind of sequel that offers little resemblance to the original "La Cage Aux Folles", or even "La Cage Aux Folles II" which came out in 1978 and 1981 respectively. Another somber point to consider is this. In 1986-87, thousands of people were dying from HIV/AIDS and there was little hope of treatment. In contrast, 1978-79, life was like a cocktail topped off with whimsy and innocence. Sadly, the young actor who played "Laurent" in the original "La Cage Aux Folles", Remi Laurent, died of AIDS on November 14th, 1989.

Still, for the sake of actors Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault, seeing them again is always a delight in spite of the obvious script limitations and poor dubbing.Keep in mind, "La Cage Aux Folles", (the series franchise) made everyone laugh and feel good about themselves; to take pride in who they are and to just enjoy life no matter what zany circumstances are thrown your way.

I would like to enjoy life a little more with a DVD version of "La Cage Aux Folles III The Wedding". The film deserves that much since VHS is basically a medium from and of, the past. This person's perspective is simply this, the entire "La Cage Aux Folles" series will be enjoyed for generations to come..

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a blockbuster, but still worth watching, December 14, 2009

I had trepidation about watching this movie, after others had called it a troll, when compared with the first two La Cage Aux Folles movies in the series. But it wasn't as bad as I envisioned.
Yes, the original Laurent is not in the LCAF3, and yes, the English dubbing is not the best in the world. But after watching the first two movies in French, it was actually refreshing for a change to be able to hear and understand the characters in my own native language of English.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rank the first LCAF an 8, the second LCAF a 9, and the third one a 6. The LCAF3 plot doesn't keep me laughing as much as the first two, but it still has its merits.

5.0 out of 5 stars DIFFERENT FROM 1&2 BUT STILL HILARIOUS, April 12, 2008
This review is from: La Cage Aux Folles 3 - The Wedding [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I did love la cage aux folles 1 & 2 and my only regret is that the nr3 is not available in dvd as I really like it since 1986... But I'm french and if you don't speak French, subtitles may not be as enjoyable as the words because this is really a very funny film!

One person commented it would be nice if it was not dubbed and just in its original Italian. The only Italian done is in La Cage Aux Folles II, when they went to the Italian mountains where Ugo's mom was. I can't even watch a movie seriously when it has subtitles, for the translation is all wrong, but dubbing is somoetimes worse than a Chinese martial arts movie's dubbing. I don't remember III, that well, but I just enjoyed seeing Ugo and Michel pairing up, again! It'd be nice to see a sequel to Birdcage. I am glad to see the reviews, for I just can't buy this, if it is dubbed, would be an injustice, would not feel right. When I did see the 3rd of the La Cage's, I enjoyed it! The original La Cage Aux Folles, my mom and I did not know what to expect, when we first saw it in Nice, France, when it first opened. Been hooked, since!

This review is from: La Cage Aux Folles 3 - The Wedding [VHS] (VHS Tape)
La Cage Aux Folles 3 - I did enjoy this classic and charming "French" romantic & funny GLBT Comedy... However I wish, I had purchased it in DVD format rather than in VHS. Well...
If you can communicate well in French - La Cage Aux Folles 1, 2 and 3 are simply great chiefly if you did like La Cage Aux Folles 1.
The American Dubbed and/or Subtitled Versions carry less entertainment weight mainly lost in the idiomatic differences but it is still a very good show and worthwhile having.
I recommend La Cage Aux Folles 1, 2 and 3 but only if in DVD format.
