4.0 out of 5 stars For fans of the Tony Martin Sabbath albums
By and large, the run of Black Sabbath albums featuring Tony Martin on vocals are overlooked, ignored, or outright trashed. Those of us who have heard the Martin albums know that they are more than worthy of the name Black Sabbath, and feature a very powerful metal vocalist. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK
The music is OK. These guys are basically riding out the 15 mins. of fame that the Black Sabbath gig brought. But it wasnt Black Sabbath lets face it. I love heavy metal but sometimes people do it in a laughable manner. Cliche screams and "spooky" guitar riffs combined with rantings about death or satan can be quite silly as opposed to scary. Musicianship...

4.0 out of 5 stars For fans of the Tony Martin Sabbath albums, May 25, 2007

By and large, the run of Black Sabbath albums featuring Tony Martin on vocals are overlooked, ignored, or outright trashed. Those of us who have heard the Martin albums know that they are more than worthy of the name Black Sabbath, and feature a very powerful metal vocalist. Martin's tenure in Black Sabbath may be over, but he is still alive and well and releasing great music. For fans of the Martin-era Black Sabbath, the Cage is probably the next best thing.

Dario Mollo is a first rate guitarist and songwriter, and together he and Martin serve up an album of melodic metal that is very similar to those later Black Sabbath albums. In fact, the Cage pretty much picks up right where Cross Purposes left off (I'm pretending Forbidden never happened). It's also got something of a Deep Purple-ish hard rock feel to it that the band's cover of Stormbringer only reinforces. Still, between Mollo's Iommi-inspired riffing and Martin's powerful vocal delivery, the Cage maintains a strong Black Sabbath vibe throughout.

If you're a Tony Martin fan, this one is a no-brainer. If you're not (and I can't imagine how you ended up on this page if you aren't), go check out the Black Sabbath albums TYR, The Eternal Idol, or Cross Purposes (Forbidden and Headless Cross can wait) and then come back to the Cage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like Tony Martin? Buy this CD!, March 22, 2002

If you like Tony Martin and think that he and Black Sabbath should still be recording together, then this album will satisfy your craving for his voice. While the lyrics aren't as sophisticated as his work with Sabbath, Tony's voice continues to shine, earning his spot in metal history. I was expecting Headless Cross, but I got I Won't Cry for You instead. Not exactly what I hoped for, but nothing to complain about either. Definitely a must for any serious Tony Martin fan, and I look forward to their next release, which Tony himself says is coming out soon. Also look for Tony on the new Rondinelli CD also scheduled for release. If things don't work out with Ozzy, let's hope Tony Iommi is smart enough to bring Martin back into the fold.

I bought this CD because i'm a Tony Martin's fan,i really didn't expect something great from this album but when i heard it i just get surprised because it's great, some tracks are heavy but the best ones are the ballads Martin's voice is as great as it was in his best sabbath years, i really recomend this CD if you like songs like "feels good to me","dying for love" or "kiss of death".

I love heavy metal but sometimes people do it in a laughable manner. Cliche screams and "spooky" guitar riffs combined with rantings about death or satan can be quite silly as opposed to scary. Musicianship actually is quite well its the songwriting that lacks. Like I said, its OK.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Rockin., August 13, 2001

This Cd is great. Dario Mollo's guitar playing is awesome. If you like late 80's early 90's Black Sabbath this cd is for you The songs are faster paced with a little dark edge to them. Plus theres a kickbut version of Deep Purples Strombringer included.Tony Martins vocals never sounded better. A couple songs are a little drawn out but over all a great cd.
