Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Cages by Ed Gorman is a terrifying look into a possible future that might just be right around the corner. It's a bleak tale and should not be read by those with sensitive tastes.

As the author notes, "I submitted it to an editor I really admire and she really liked it and battled for months with the publisher to let her run it. But he said, 'This story will cost us subscribers.' And you know, I think he was probably right."

Cemetery Dance Publications is very pleased to make this gritty tale available again to the masses.

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange Little Story, January 2, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cages: A Short Story (Kindle Edition)
This is a strange, yet compelling, little story (124 KB, 13 pages) and as the author's note states, "I'm not even exactly sure what it's about. But I do know that it's a metaphor for how I've felt most of my life."

A young boy, living in some future dystopia, suffers nightly as his parents argue and his father beats his mother. The arguments inevitable center around money. The boy finds a way to get some money in the hope that it will alleviate the endless arguing. Things don't go as expected.

If you seek a happy story, this isn't it. Life is messy, stuff happens.

Just FYI. Large portions of this text is missing punctuation, deliberately it would seem. Much of the spellin' is colloquial. Profanity is frequent.
