There are NO puppets in this dvd. :-) ...(In earlier dvds with Caillou, they had annoying puppets interrupting the episodes). This one (and multiple others are Puppet FREE.... just straight Caillou episodes).
Here is a list of the dvd's I've bought that are ALL puppet free.
Caillou: Winter Wonders
Caillou: Caillou's Family Favorites
Caillou: Caillou's Playschool Adventures
Caillou: Caillou the Creative
Caillou's Holiday Movie
My 2-year old daughter LOVES Caillou. It's nice to have the dvd's that are straight cartoon episodes with no iterruptions. I think Winter Wonders & Family Favorites have really cute episodes. Caillou dancing with his Grandma was really cute. But these are ALL just darling and all keep my 2-year old interested.

My 3 boys (one 3 Y-O and two 21 month-old) are already familiar with Calliou through the Sprout/PBS Channels and they love it. My husband and I purchased this DVD in anticipation of them having earlier bedtimes and not being able to see Calliou in the evenings. It's a few of the old favorite episodes with some new ones thrown in, and we appreciate the values highlighted in each epsiode. We use Calliou's situations with family and friends as discussion points for appropriate and inappropriate behaviors and actions. The shows are well-written and light-hearted, but realistic.

The only thing that I wish the DVD had was rolling credits after each episode, but for selfish reasons - the credits are how my children know the episode is over! :-)

PBS has really scored with this series and I would definitely recommend this to parents of toddlers/preschoolers.

My 3yr old daughter loves Caillou. These episodes (same as shown on Sprout) show Caillou using good manners, going on fun adventures, and not whining (episodes shown on PBS Kids show a very whiney Caillou & I don't let my daughter watch those). There are no silly puppets on this DVD. I highly recommend this DVD as well as Caillou's Playschool Adventures and Caillou, The Everyday Hero.

I first saw this cartoon on tv while while flipping through the channels. I was interested, checked out the reviews on Amazon and bought it to try it out. My daughters love it. We have many DVDS, barney, winnie-the-poo, etc and Caillou is their favorite. It shows life from the perspective of a 5 year old, the characters have real world personalities (no dancing dinosaurs). The story lines follows an extended family and the situations are positive and educational. Now my daughters mention the characters in conversations. For example, "Say thank you, like Caillou does." Caillou can be whiny once in a while (as noted in the low score reviews) but what child his age isn't at times? I think his family demonstrate well how to young children in a bad mood, with light hearted humor and thoughtful distractions. Caillou is a positive role model for my children and families.

My son absolutely loves watching Caillou on the sprout network so we thought this was a good idea for traveling. He loves the dvd, and I was pleasantly surprised by the musical skits in between each episode (which are not shown on sprout).
The dvd contains mostly newer episdoes, but there are a few older ones on the dvd that my son is not familiar with. The voices are different and the animation and look of caillou is also different. He's very aware of it and usually wanders off during those episodes.
Overall, a good DVD.

Great movie. Perfect length to keep the interest of my 3 yr.old. This movie was just another one added to our already great collection of Caillou movies. I definately reccommend this for toddler thru pre-k. Although, my older son will also sit and watch this too, at times.

This is a great DVD of a great program.
Ironically you will find many people whining that Caillou is whiny. Apparently some think he is whiney in old episodes only and some say it is newer episodes. Some say he is whiney in Sprout episodes and some say PBS episodes. I wasn't aware that the channels played different episodes. Some will only let their kids watch "non whiney" episodes as if their leaving the work of modeling good behavior to television. If Caillou is acting up in an episode, you could use the opportunity to point out how his behavior is poor and what the consequences are if your own kids were to behave like that.
In some circumatances Caillou is whiney and some he is not, but that is parallel to at least most parents reality.
What's great about Caillou is that he is learning and experiencing things just like all young children. My children find him fascinating and I appreciate the simplicity and gentleness of the program. His parents model patience which most parents, like myself, could use more.
The best part about this particular DVD is there are no puppets, my girls do not like them at all. I consider this program safe to "babysit" my girls for a few minutes :)

I pre-ordered this item and looked forward to new Caillou cartoons. On the back of our previous Caillou videos, they all describe the product as a "compilation of 4 new Caillou episodes." However, this new version describes its contents as "4 Caillou episodes." That is because they recycle material from previous videos. There is some new content, but they shouldn't recycle any old material. I do not recommend purchasing this video.
