My 3 yr old loves this book! I like the durable hard cover and glossy pages.

I can't believe a writer and editor both thought it was a good idea to make a joke out of Caillou throwing a rubber duckie into the toilet. In the book, Caillou's father sees the duck in the toilet and they both laugh. There's no scolding or explanation for why that's a bad idea-- they just laugh. I didn't even want to read that to my daughter-- she's never thrown...

I can't believe a writer and editor both thought it was a good idea to make a joke out of Caillou throwing a rubber duckie into the toilet. In the book, Caillou's father sees the duck in the toilet and they both laugh. There's no scolding or explanation for why that's a bad idea-- they just laugh. I didn't even want to read that to my daughter-- she's never thrown anything in the toilet before, and this gave her the idea to try it because it's presented as something funny in the book.

All the Caillou books are wonderful. This one tries to instill a little responsibility into Caillou, which is nice, I guess. The colors are bright and cheerful. This shows how parents are trying to make their children pick up after themselves. It also shows about rewards and pleasure being delayed when chores are not completed. Good message, but I want Caillou to get his pudding!
