3.0 out of 5 stars BAYOU MYSTERY WITH ROMANCE, March 7, 2000
This review is from: Cajun Heat (Indigo Series) (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
Baltimore Detective Symone Rawlins haunted by the death of her brother, who was killed on a police call with her. She and her Partner were requested by the New Orleans Police Department to help solve a string of gruesome murders, which are similar to the murder case Symone work and was recognized for her outstanding work. Something unexpected comes up and Symone's Partner can't make the trip until later, but Symone continues to New Orleans, and met at the Airport by handsome FBI Agent Josiah La'mon, and there was an instant attraction. Ms. Berry surprise you with who the second killer is and how the killer is involved with Symone. This is the first book of Ms. Berry's I've read, and found it very enjoyable, and recommend it to you who love mystery with romance.

This is my first time reading works by this author. I found the characterization, the locale and the events of this novel to be authentically and emotionally real--too real if you ask me!

Masterfully done, Ms. Berry. Congratulations!

5.0 out of 5 stars More than Heat, this book is H-O-T!!!!, September 6, 2000

This review is from: Cajun Heat (Indigo Series) (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
What can I say about this wonderful novel? Ms. Berry and I exchanged books with each other while actually doing a book signing tour in New Orleans together. On the plane, returning home, I couldn't put this book down, even when I started getting sleepy! Ms. Berry writes a novel of intrigue and suspense that had my mind and heart racing through the very streets of New Orleans we had just left with this fictitious character, Detective Symone Rawlins. I agonized with her over the death of her beloved brother and felt vengence in my heart for catching the person who killed him. Ms. Berry makes you fall in love with handsome Josiah La'Mon, an FBI agent, who at first seems like he might not be a good guy. I loved the roller coaster ride of mystery Ms. Berry puts the reader on and was sufficiently surprised when she revealed the killer and the connection between the two. This is more a thriller than a romance and I loved the ride. What's next Ms. Berry?

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge a book by its cover..., August 17, 2000
This review is from: Cajun Heat (Indigo Series) (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
I was very plesantly surprised. I had bypassed this book because of it's cover. I reconsidered and purchased it. I am not sorry. It is an excellent story with strong intelligent characters. The plot is interesting, and the book moves along well. I can not explain the choice of a cover, but I feel it is misleading. Give it a try...

5.0 out of 5 stars HOT!, May 5, 2000

This review is from: Cajun Heat (Indigo Series) (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
This is my first book by Charlene Berry and it was excellant. This was a true page turner, I finished the book in one day. The attraction between Symone and Josiah was strong from their first meeting.

I love the suspense and the drama. You find your self anticipating what will happen next and guessing who you think the killer will be. But you are in shock at the twist of who the killer is and how they are related to Symone.

Good read, you will not be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cop romance on location, April 4, 2000
This review is from: Cajun Heat (Indigo Series) (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
Charlene Berry's 'Cajun Heat' is a page-turner that keeps romance on a constant simmer switching occasionally to high heat. Parallel plots of revenge reveal layers of psychological depth, locale descriptions are tangibly real, and the dialogue flows convincingly. Our cop heroine's resourcefulness is stuff from which role models are made. Berry's underlying insistence on her character's goodness is also refreshing.
