My grandmother was a terrific baker, and I haven't seen some of these recipes since I was a kid in the 1950's. Kudos to Nancy Wilson for getting me baking again.

Recipes are easy to follow and the outcome is delicious. Made the spice cake for Thanksgiving and my husband loved it.

About the Author

All things beautiful are my passion. I enjoy anything that a masterful hand creates. Writing is one of those, cooking is another and the third is development of the human spirit. The first two captured my interest and imagination at a very young age, the third came much later.

I began my love affair with cooking when I was very young. As soon as I could reach the counter top my mother gave me free range in the kitchen. I was allowed to mix and mix and mix, building my masterpieces. They were nothing more that wild combinations of flour, sugar, spices and water, but to me it was creating at its best. When I finished with each endeavor, we tossed it all and happily cleaned up the kitchen, looking forward to the next time. My creative spirit in the kitchen had taken root.

My first adventure in writing came my senior year in high school when I decided to take a writing correspondence course, which was very forward-looking for the time. I experienced the first thrill of putting pen to paper, and all these years later it is still one of the most pleasurable activities in my life.

The power of the human spirit and an understanding of the personal power we all possess came in my mid- to late forties when I found myself a divorced, single-mother of four children - two teenager daughters and two young boys. Suddenly, I was on my own and had to find a way to make it all work. The following years of deep personal introspection and self discovery were amazing and life changing; and now, I want to share my thoughts and experience with others through my writing.

All my work is non-fiction. Even though I love fiction, that has never been my focus and there are others who do it so much better than I. My choice has always been and will continue to be to write about topics that interest and intrigue me and to share what I discover with my readers.

More About the Author

All things beautiful are my passion. I enjoy anything that a masterful hand creates. Writing is one of those, cooking is another and the third is development of the human spirit. The first two captured my interest and imagination at a very young age, the third came much later.

My first series, "Mama's Legacy Cookbooks," was a pleasure to create because it allowed me to tap into the two early interests and to publish cookbooks that my audience can use and enjoy time and time again.

If I had my druthers, I would write all the time. In fact, that is pretty much what I do because I have reached a point in my life where it is now possible.

In addition to the "Mama Legacy Cookbook Series" and "Cake Making Made Easy," I have another book, "Candy Making Made Easy" that provides detailed instructions about the candy-making process and 16 starter recipes to help apply what the reader has learned. I loved writing this book because it brought back so many wonderful memories of candy-making with my mom on those long summer nights when I was a young girl.

My more recent works have moved in a slightly different direction. "Attitude Adjustment - Make Your Whole Outlook Brand New," discusses the impact that attitude can have on the life you live. Is it one of constant doom and gloom, or one of happiness and joy. If it is the later, terrific - keep doing what you are doing! If it is the gloom and doom, negative attitude that pushes people away, the book gives you some options of things you can do to change. It is a short book, but full of great information.

"DETOX - The Master Cleanse Diet" provides a detailed, step-by-step set of instructions on how to properly cleanse your body - to help you eliminate all the toxic waste build up that is making you feel sluggish and less than excited about facing each day. It is a great first step toward better health and and a greater sense of well being.

I have several other Kindle books written under pen names with a number of books in process.

All my work is non-fiction. Even though I love fiction, that has never been my focus and there are others who do it so much better than I. My choice has always been and will continue to be to write about topics that interest and intrigue me and to share what I discover with my readers.

A very well thought out cookbook, with a great selection of cakes for all occasions. I particularly liked the attention to detail and the way the author pointed out which recipes were appropriate for teaching children. My grandmother was a terrific baker, and I haven't seen some of these recipes since I was a kid in the 1950's. Kudos to Nancy Wilson for getting me baking again.

This clever little cookbook is not only easy to follow, but has delicious pictures too! Fabulous recipes for young and old at any skill level. Easy, step by step instructions and lots of fantastic ideas. I would highly recommend everyone have this in their own collection. We all have special occasions, birthdays, etc...why not 'Wow' your friends this time?! I feel very confident that I can do this on my own now. No more spending too much on a boring old sheet cake for me. Thanks for writing such a tasty book Nancy, I enjoyed reading and experimenting! My friends & family will enjoy it too!

I purchased this book on the run up to my son's birthday as he had asked if I would bake a cake for him. I opened it and was immediately blown away on reading the table of contents. There was so much to this book. I loved the list of 28 tips for better baking especially the cake cutting tips. Wow who knew you could get that many pieces, brilliant when you are hosting a party. I also loved the information on baking pans and the explanation the author gives. So much information and I hadn't even got to the receipes yet!!! Next came measuring tools, measuring chart and measuring equipment. The book then moved on to explain basic ingredients before getting into the mouthwatering recipes that followed. I loved the fact that each recipe was written in a very easy to follow manner and there was a picture so I knew what the end result should look like. Each recipe also contained nutritional information and recipe tips. I went through this book with my children and they wanted to try out almost every recipe. They loved the pictures and couldn't wait to get started. No matter what type of cake you enjoy you are bound to find it in this fantastic book. There are cheesecakes, butter cakes, foam cakes, my children's favourite, chocolate cakes and much more. You will also find information on how to create all the frostings and glazes and to finish off there is information on storing and freezing cakes. If you are a cake lover and you enjoy baking this really is the definitive cake guide and like my family, I'm sure yours will love choosing which cake to try next.

If you're looking for cake recipes, this is the cookbook for you. Not only does it have 60 cake recipes, it includes a history of cakes, 28 tips for better baking, equipment and tools, basic ingredients, and how to store and freeze cakes.

The recipes include traditional cakes, such as angel food, sponge, pound, carrot, and chocolate (several different chocolate cake recipes), plus a number of cheesecake recipes, and a gingerbread recipe. In addition to the cake recipes, there are recipes for frosting/icing/fillings/glazes.

A very comprehensive cake cookbook.

Not only do you get 60 amazing recipes for awesome cakes (my family LOVES the peanut butter cup one!) you also get a TON of helpful information. Conversion charts (so when you have something in metric but the recipe is in oz), history, needed supplies, Tips & Tricks, etc. Most importantly, it's all laid out for the beginner as well as the expert so I don't have to start from scratch! Worth every dollar!

This is not a book you read from cover to cover. When I paged through it and reached the Rich Yellow Cake I stopped the first time and studied the ingredients and baking instructions. Easy, I thought. I have to add, baking cakes is nothing new to me. I started with Pancakes when I was around ten and as the decades went by I progressed to Sachertorte and the Queen Mother's Date and Walnut Cake. I kept paging in Nancy N Wilson's book and soon stopped at the World's Best Cheesecake. Looking delicious! Let me say here: even if you never baked a cake in your life, with the instructions provided in this book you would have to make a real effort to fail. What I also like about this book are the nutritional facts that are stated in the form of a table at the end of each cake recipe.

I progressed to the chocolates cakes: Chocolate Cream-Filled Cake, Chocolate Fudge Upside-Down Cake, Chocolate Hazelnut Cake, Chocolate Orange Cake ... I felt like swapping recipes with the author. The recipes and pictures of delicious cakes go on and on. Only with the Black Forest Cake I have a little problem. I grew up not far away from the Black Forest area in Germany and in my book every Black Forest Cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte) must have one important ingredient, which is Rum and which is missing here. (You can substitute Rum with Zwetschgenwasser.)

This is a great cookbook. I give it six stars (despite the missing Rum). What? Five stars is the maximum? Five stars it is!! This is a well presented, thoughtfully structured and beautiful book.
